I ordered the chicken over rice and it was honestly terrible. The food looked and tasted nothing like what was advertised .. the chicken was dry, unseasoned, and didn’t seem fresh at all. The rice was plain with no flavor, and the entire dish looked thrown together carelessly.

I expected a well-seasoned halal meal, but this was extremely disappointing and not worth the money. I couldn’t even eat it. I reached out to the restaurant for a refund because this was not acceptable quality.

Would not recommend ordering from here the presentation and taste were both awful.

I ordered Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Kabab. Butter Chicken was decent but the Chicken Tikka Kabob was horrible. I have never seen it made with ground chicken. It should be made with boneless thighs or breast. I normally go to NewEra Indian Bistro but came here since they are closed on Wednesday. Terrible mistake

Today I took the time to walk in just to see what the vibes were about. I ordered Curry, chickpeas and potato, Spinach chicken over rice. It even had a mini salad with all the amazing tamarind sauce, chutney sauce. When I got home when I tell you, this food is Bussin!!! I almost bit my finger yo. I’m from Trinidad and this was the closest taste to my West Indian culture in Germantown area. I highly recommend walking in and ordering also ask for some recommendations. The proper knowledge of What goes well together, just ask. 10 out of 10 and very tasty! She even threw an extra rice & Sauces. I’m very happy.

It’s so sad how much this place changed. Just a few months ago in about.. April of 2025 this was still the delicious, beautiful restaurant I remembered from when I was younger. I used to go every Wednesday with my nana and the Ladies that worked there were phenomenal and still remembered me when I went back in early spring of 2025. The food was delicious then… but now, I looked went in and looked at the trays and they looked dry, gross and like they hadn’t mixed it for hours. But what was really horrible was that nasty, rude girl who was working at cash. First off, her attitude was deplorable. I asked for food and she was rushing my order and rolling her eyes. Then when I asked for the aloo gobi, she didn’t say “we didn’t have it” but “No.” straight up said no, and then I said never mind to even ordering food. When I was walking out, once again in an attitude she said “Have a nice day”. I immediately called my mom and told her what happened to what I would always tell people was the best Indian food in Philly. Actually so sad what happened to this place. And whomever that girl was that helped me out. Watch your attitude cause one day you’re gonna mess with the wrong one and get slapped. For anyone that is still reading and wants a great Indian food recommendation that’s still in Philly, New Delhi Indian Restaurant is actually so phenomenal and always has great deals. It’s a little far for me so unless I’m in university city or feel like ordering on Uber Eats, I won’t get it— that’s what Jyoti WAS for— but that’s going to be my new go-to.

Lastly, if the ladies that used to work here see this, know you’re missed and you made that restaurant. I hope you’re doing well.

This is NOT the same Jyoti I remember. Food was horrible! Bland…water down…nothing like I remember. Butter chicken and Chana masala was so tasteless! This food use to taste rich and full of flavor…not any longer! Also my Pakoras veggies were burnt as well. Oh and the lentils use to be creamy..flavorful…now they are watery and had some white stuff floating in it!! Gross! I’m sad I use to love this place. Throwing it all out! Please get a new cook, who cares about food, presentation, taste. Until then I Will find a new place!

I dont know what’s going on with this place but I ordered delivery tonight. The chicken curry was watery and bland. Its like they boiled chicken and dropped in sauce. The Saag paneer was watery and tasteless. Cauliflower in the aloo ghobi was burnt. Tikka masala was tasteless. I wish I ordered through grubhub so I could get some money back. Ended up throwing it all away and ordering from Tiffin. Its crazy, because I was just there earlier in the week and the food was so good.

I can’t speak for the service or atmosphere as I ordered through Grubhub. The food is great however. I had the non-veg platter w/ chicken tikki masala & channa masala. Garlic naan, samosas, and pakoras. Everything was great, and I’m mad I waited so long to try lol.

I absolutely love this place for their vegetarian and vegan options! They have such a great variety, and everything I’ve tried has been delicious. The appetizers are a standout too—especially the samosas and even the mango chutney, which is amazing. The staff is super helpful and accommodating, especially when I had an issue with a DoorDash order. They handled it quickly and made sure everything was perfect. Definitely a go-to spot for anyone looking for tasty vegetarian or vegan Indian food!
