⭐️⭐️ TL;DR: Good food completely ruined by disorganized and inattentive service. Not suitable for a special occasion.
We went for our anniversary and left frustrated. The food was decent, but the service was careless from start to finish.
️ Parking misinformation
I called ahead because I couldn’t find parking and was told the restaurant doesn’t offer any parking support. After arriving, the parking ticket behind the restaurant clearly offered $10 off the bill for this restaurant. Staff simply didn’t know their own policy, which already set the tone.
Arrival and seating
No proper welcome, no help with chairs or coats, and no coat check.
Despite a reservation and special occasion, we were placed at an awkward middle table with a partial blocked view. No acknowledgment of the anniversary at all.
Service issues
The service was inattentive and unprofessional.
• Oysters served with zero explanation unless we asked
• No check-ins during the meal
• No offer of pepper or condiments
• Server not present when food arrived
• Had to rely on assistants for basic requests
While I was still eating, my partner’s plate was cleared and we were immediately pushed for dessert. We declined, and the bill was brought while we were still drinking. The payment machine then took another 10 to 15 minutes to arrive.
The entire experience felt rushed yet disorganized.

We ordered oysters, a New York strip loin, and lobster tails to share.
The food itself was good, but the lobster tails came with butter sauce on the side, mostly butter with very little garlic flavor and no spoon to serve it properly.
Final thoughts
For a restaurant at this price level, the lack of basic hospitality was surprising. No attention to detail, no communication, and no sense of occasion.
Good food alone cannot fix poor service. I would not return for another celebration.
They do have a happy hour menu until 5:30, which is one of the few positives.

We got the Japanese roll for an appetizer, which was beyond fantastic. And shared the Wednesday special dinner for two. I got a steak bowl, and my wife got the scallops and shrimp. Then the desert key lime meringue and dark chocolate, which was the president of the top shelf in deliciousness

Good food, great service. Staff was very nice and patient. Indoor seatings gets lots of sun, love it especially on winter afternoon. The Happy hours has lots to pick from. Food and cocktails are priced little higher than other places in the area on the happy hour menu. Shuck a buck deal is superb!

I can’t say enough about the exceptional service we experienced while dining at Nautical Nellies on Christmas Day. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by two lovely hostesses whose inviting energy set the tone for our visit. I wasn’t having the best day, and one of the hostesses enthusiastically complimented my makeup—such a small gesture, but it truly turned my day around.
Every server we encountered was polite and kind, but our server, Krystal, was absolutely phenomenal. She took exceptional care of us and was genuinely enthusiastic about making our dining experience special. Her kindness, attentiveness, and caring nature made the entire experience truly enjoyable.
I also really appreciate that Nautical Nellies remains open on Christmas and makes a traditional turkey dinner accessible for people. While some restaurants significantly increase prices on holidays, Nautical Nellies offered a delicious special holiday meal at a very reasonable price. Bravo to the entire team for their generosity, professionalism, and holiday spirit!

We were visiting Victoria from Saskatchewan for a wedding, and one of the days we had to ourselves we wanted to go for fresh seafood. We were recommended to Nautical Nellie’s and boy were we glad! This spot was phenomenal for a nice dinner out! With it also being so close to the ocean, it was so phenomenal. The food was exquisite. Will definitely come again!!

I am here for work from Nova Scotia and the food here was amazing. The steak was melt in your mouth. The service was awesome. From the minute you walk in the door to the time you have to leave, you are treated amazing by everyone. You can’t come to Victoria and not dine here, it’s a must. Bon appetit.
