I found this little bakery by accident. I have been twice now and will plan to go again. Let me just say the desserts are FANTASTIC. I tried the Galaktoboureko (custard pie) for the first time ever and Wow is it delicious. I will also say with confidence that the baklava was the best I have ever had and I have been to Greece. Oh the tiramisu…..the best!!!!!! I also tried a napoleon and it was delish! I recommend you try this place out. They have been in Tarpon for over 100 years. The customer service is great.

Walk two blocks off the main drag and find this absolutely amazing hidden gem. Hellas might have a bigger selection, but National Bakery has amazing food and a much shorter line. Staff were kind and helpful. The baclava by was amazing, both with and without chocolate. If this is how baclava is supposed to taste, I demand a refund for all my previous tastings. If you’re in Tarpon Springs, stop here. You won’t be sad.

All the desserts looked amazing and it was so hard to choose. After speaking to the lovely woman behind the counter, we ended up taking 4 desserts home: a cannoli, a slice of baklava, a baklava cheesecake, and a kataifi roll. Pictured is the baklava cheesecake, which was incredible. You will not be disappointed by anything you pick!
Once we run out of our sweet treats from National Bakery, we will be back for more!

If you’re in Tarpon Springs and don’t wander off the main drag, you’ll miss this little gem.
Tucked away on the back streets is National Bakery — serving up old-school Greek pastries since 1925. The baklava? Rolled like an egg roll, crispy on the outside, soaked just right inside. Easily the best thing I had in town.
No flash, no frills — just trays full of pastries that actually taste homemade. Total surprise find while walking, and absolutely worth the detour.
Support the small spots. This one’s a keeper.

Absolutely delicious. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and kind, and she guided us, giving spirited explanations of each treat we were interested in. Too many options to choose from? She would give you a recommendation! I got the limoncello cake, among other things, and it blew me away. Subtle lemony flavor and a smooth texture like mousse on top but a fluffy cake on the bottom. I would highly recommend this place.
Friendly staff, tasty food, and reasonable prices. Must visit!

This place was recommended to me as the first established Greek bakery in Florida and still using the recipes from the original island the settlers came from. And it did not disappoint. I came back twice in the last week and everything I tried was excellent and very authentic! It’s worth going by there even for a little treat if you’re in the area!

Wow! My family has been coming to tarpon springs for many, many years and we’ve always enjoyed the Greek food. We seem to never step off the main strip, but today we walked down Athens Street and found this fantastic bakery. The desserts here are so much better than the ones we’ve had at other restaurants on the sponge docks and I only wish that we would have gotten some other things, like the New Year’s bread. If I would have known how delicious the pastries would be, I would have certainly bought more. I will definitely be back in the future and I would absolutely recommend this to others

This is a really nice place to have something sweet. Really good cakes and pastries.
Is off the main Street, so it’s way less crowded, at least when I passed by.
I passed by the other one on the main strip and the huge lines were a turn off. This was a great find.

When you are in Tarpon Springs, be sure you visit National Bakery. A true generational Greek family bakery that also provides breads to some restaurants.
It’s on a back street rather than the main road. Friendly & helpful with making selections. Cheese Pies were our breakfast choice plus we carried out some delightful Napolian cake, Canoli & more.
It’s has a small lobby and tables out on the sidewalk. We were there around 9am (late) Friday after Thanksgiving & saw 10 or 12 customers come & go with bags of goodness.
We spent a few hours taking in the towns vibe & picked out a couple of plump sponges to take back home.
