Social Profile:

National Bakery stands out from the competition due to their uniqueness, outstanding quality, history, and reputation. All the bread products are Kosher to serve the growing Jewish community. Our bakery is the only bakery in the area to make wiener buns which are labeled all-purpose rolls, french horns, Kaiser hard rolls, rye bread, pullman bread and 100% whole wheat bread. A one stop shop to get any bread and desserts for any occasion. Both bread and pastry are made from the same company, old-fashioned baking: no preservatives. People come nationwide for the bread products because no other bakery compares. Italian bread with crunchy crust reminds customers of the bread they enjoyed growing up. Stop by and visit soon!

Doesn’t really have much in it and there stuff looks kinda old….and tbh I went in there as a Hispanic person and the white lady in the front gave me a weird look and it just didn’t seem welcoming AT ALL I do NOTTTT recommend! I would muchhhhhh rather recommend the bakery called (my mothers delicacies) mychhh better service and clean.

You know what ruins a business? Horrible customer service. I love the bread here but the woman at the counter today who “helped” us was absolutely awful. When we asked the prices, she rolled her eyes and was so rude/impatient. I thought I was a one off situation (maybe she was having a bad day) but I scrolled through the comments & plenty of people have complained about the treatment from a woman-which I’m assuming is the same lady (older woman who wore pink today). The bakery responded to the other review saying they will look into it-clearly they didn’t or don’t care about the way they present their business. Rude, unprofessional and AWFUL energy. She made us feel uncomfortable the second we walked in. Id give her 0 stars if possible. Doesn’t matter how good the product is… if the person behind the product is down right nasty!

I love supporting local business but they have lost a customer. They will continue to lose customers due to lack of self-awareness. I recommend going to support families who are kind, welcoming and spread LOVE.

Food is fine but was called pregnant (but am not) by the woman working the register so….. Yeah 10/10 wouldn’t recommend if you want to have a normal purchasing experience – please do not make comments like that and assume anything about anyone it’s almost 2026. My husband and I were shocked by your lack of awareness.

I have been in the area for 20+ years now. I grew up remembering my mom always dragging us down to the National Bakery & everything always being so yummy! However, as an adult, I cannot say I’ve had one wholeheartedly good experience other than the food and it’s always due to poor customer service. The vibe is very much “you should know what you’re getting and how much everything is ‘even though there are no tags’ kind of energy as though everyone shops there all the time. Today, my sister & I visited the shop since she no longer lives in the area and was excited to go back. We asked the woman at the front how much everything was & I’m not sure if they put her over the edge but her mood totally shifted. Then my sister & I debated about whether to get one big bag or separate bags for literally 2.5 seconds and she rolled her eyes at us, lost her patience & immediately got annoyed with us like we did something wrong. We looked at each other because it was it was INCREDIBLY uncomfortable. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened and it’s unfortunate, because the food is truly delicious & for it being a small business, you’d think the staff would value their customers more. I understand it’s very hard in the world right now & a lot of people are struggling but I am in customer service and if if you’re in customer service and putting that energy onto others, that’s not okay. I wish I said something directly to her because maybe she doesn’t even recognize it & maybe for the future I will, but for now I send her love and hopefully someone has a conversation with her.

**** RESPOND****
Thank you for responding. I want to clarify why this review was left. The experience wasn’t a single moment or misunderstanding — it was a back-and-forth interaction that felt dismissive and uncomfortable, which is why it stood out enough for me to speak up.
I left the review honestly and respectfully, not to attack anyone, but to reflect how the interaction actually felt as a customer. The response here, while apologetic, does come across as somewhat condescending, and that tone is exactly what makes people hesitate to return.
The fact that others resonated with the review shows that this experience felt valid, not isolated. I genuinely wish the business well, but transparency and how concerns are addressed matter just as much as the product itself.

Pastry is good and their bread is phenomenal. However, no price tags for most of the product. Limited options at the end of the day. And place desperately need some renovation. Felt ancient inside. Also a bit pricy, but it’s worth it in my opinion.

Why do you allow fresh baked rye bread (or previously frozen!)with no expiration date stale on your shelf until it sells?

Stopped in for the first time recently, wont be back. Mediocre pastries and bagels, extremely overpriced. Food went bad within a few days and had to toss anyways. Much better options and quality elsewhere.

This is the walk-in store for the National Bakery. I found this place by accident years ago.

Now, every time I drive by Scranton, PA, we detour to National Bakery!!

We stock up on fresh made Breads, Rolls and Sweets!! We sit in their parking lot and sample our purchases!!

I am amazed at how many customers stop by for a “daily” purchase!

They come out with small bags compared to our big bags!!

Imagine being able to stop in daily!! The local residents are very lucky.

Not only are the baked goods excellent, the prices are very reasonable. Add the super pleasant workers and it’s a trifecta!

If you have the chance, stop in here. The selections are better earlier in the day. This time, we came after 3 PM and still had lots to choose from, but saw some empty shelves.

I recommend their “horn” rolls, hard poppy seed rolls and my absolute favorite yellow cake frosted with coconut! The Danish and Strudel sticks are very good, too.

I am sure I read a Kosher sign at this store. All the better!
