First of all, I’m a foodie who is a harsh critic of food. I have a list of restaurants for every state in the nation including Toronto and Montreal! With that said, let me just say that I have never, ever, EVER left a review before but this food is so good, I had to vouch for this place. I’m from NYC but my whole family has southern roots so I know good soul food when I smell and see it! I was in Detroit for a baseball game and know to never come to Detroit without trying some good ol fashioned/down home soul food. Disregard the location or the spot it’s housed in and just be concerned with how good the food is and how nice the folks are! This food meets and exceeds the standard for soul food! The brother outside in front is grilling the ribs and the tender taste is to die for and I don’t even eat pork!! I’ll say it again! I don’t eat pork! In fact, I asked if they had beef ribs but when you go to a place that’s named after someone’s grandmother, you know the food is good so I dove right in! The ribs are finger licking good! The dressing tasted like my aunts cornbread stuffing! The Mac n cheese met the standard! The collard greens were legit! The chicken wings are legit! I am only in Detroit for 2 days and I might pick up something else from there!
Only thing missing was a banana pudding or a bread pudding to cap it all off!
