We love Nancy Jo’s! The staff is always so friendly, and we often stop by for their strawberry cake or a chocolate pie. We also buy their cakes for birthdays, and this year picked up some different half cakes to bring to Christmas. The quality is excellent, our guests always love it, and you can’t beat supporting a true local business! We’d love to see them open a bit later on Fridays and Saturdays.

Nancy Jo’s has that quaint small town vibe and the staff are always friendly and pleasant. I love to bring my granddaughter in for ice cream.

It is RARE that I ever discourage others from supporting a small town business, but do NOT eat at Nancy Jo’s Homemade in Clayton. If you have kids, they are NOT welcome there!

After spending our money and eating lunch at Nancy Jo’s, we decided to order ice cream. When we approached David to do so, he told us we had to sit outside because we were “terribly too loud inside” and they wanted their customers to enjoy their lunch. My friend and I were in shock that this was said to us, because our kids were just being kids. We found this treatment RUDE, unfair, and dismissive—especially since we are long-time loyal customers.

We had our kids there (ages 2, 3, and 5), all acting like kids—nothing out of the ordinary. Despite that, we were basically told to leave, with the comment, “We will serve you, but y’all have to sit outside,” without any proper explanation or courtesy. We were so upset that we left immediately and went somewhere kids are welcome (Burney’s, thank you!).

Later, I went back inside to address the issue with David. His response was, “Sorry you felt that way,” but he did not apologize for how we were treated or for dismissing loyal customers like us. That lack of a genuine apology only added to our disappointment.

I will not be spending another dime at Nancy Jo’s, and I will be sharing this experience to warn others. I’ve never been treated like this in all my years as a customer, and it’s deeply disappointing & disgusting.

Sadly, the lady who checked me out was rude and unfriendly. My mother tried to start a conversation with her, and the lady made very clear by her manner and countenance that she had no interest in listening to what my mother was saying.

This is a great place for homemade cakes! They’re fresh, and fantastic. They also have the best chicken salad I’ve had! Definitely a great spot in our little town.

Excellent little place! I had the bacon cheeseburger, even with chili, chips, and a drink for under $10. I assume the lady at the counter was the owner. Super nice. The other employees were very friendly as well. Will definitely stop by when I’m in Clayton again!

Great cakes and ice cream, nice flavors. Love the strawberry and chocolate thin layer the most. Only complaint is the frozen pasta is very disappointing, no meat and very plain for the price.

Edit after response: Your frozen to-go pans may be made with ‘meat sauce’ but there was NO meat in any of the ones we purchased (Lasagna, Spaghetti) period. IMO it was waaaay over priced for what it was. The grocery store lasagna tastes better.
