We specialize in three main areas- cake, cookies and pastries. We make custom cakes, wedding cakes, and have them ready to go. Our cookies sell out daily! Our line of stuffed cookies (think of a smore or cheesecake inside a soft and flavorful cookie) is over the top and our breakfast pastries are the best you’ll find in the triangle area. We’re well known for our goat cheese and herb or our lemon blueberry scones. And you haven’t really lived until you try a stuffed cinnamon roll or sticky biscuit!

Been by here a few times now and it hits every time! Unfortunately with all of the commercialization that is happening in the triangle area, small bakeries like this are very hard to find. Glad to have something like this in Garner. The almond croissant and stuffed cookies are delicious!

Wonderful custom order cakes! We ordered a cowboy cake for a baby shower and Barbara knew exactly what I wanted. The cake looked adorable and the taste was absolutely delicious! We did 2 flavors. One tier was chocolate cake with strawberry mouse filling , and the other tier was yellow butter cake with Bavarian mouse filling . Buttercream frosting. Cake was moist and not overly sweet. Our guest couldn’t stop talking about how good it was and asking where it came from .
We’ve enjoyed other treats as well. We ordered another cake for Thanksgiving and know it will be a hit!

We’ve stopped here several times. Initially, I was so excited to find this small-batch bakery in the very small Garner downtown area. Unfortunately, the shine has worn off because of several experiences that fall short.

Most recently, I purchased a small bag of small chocolate chip cookies (pictured). For $6.25, I received 10 small cookies, US quarter shown for scale, including several cookies that appear to have *A* chocolate chip. I guess the label, Chocolate Chip, is literal. @ least 1 has 0 chocolate chips.

On another visit, I arrived 2 or 3 minutes before they opened. Instead of unlocking the door to let me in seconds before their posted hours of operation start, a staff member stood feet away playing around with item positioning on a shelf…. just the other side of the glass…. *&* left me standing @ the door, unacknowledged, for a few *extra* minutes, unlocking the door several minutes after posted opening…

On a separate occasion, I stopped by to grab fresh cinnamon roles for an early morning meeting. Pro Tip: their cinnamon roles are frozen; if you want a fresh cinnamon role with your morning coffee, this isn’t your bakery.

Also, they’re still flipping the COVID-19 tip board @ check-out while also having a physical tip jar right there. How are they unable to properly pay their staff @ their prices? These margins aren’t small, but they still expect 18% or more to pass an item across the counter.

Some items have been very good. Others seem to follow more of a ‘kitchen sink’ approach with any & everything thrown into a cookie or pastry. KISS is atypical here.

Some days, they seem customer oriented, others, they don’t mind sending the vibe that you’re a bother. I’ve walked out on more than one occasion without making a purchase. These chocolate chip cookies are the last attempt I give to this small business. I’ll look for another in the area that I can support when I’m in the neighborhood.

I don’t ask to speak to the manager. I do understand that we’re all human beings doing our best & some days are better than others. I like to support small business. YMMV with this place; GL!

I recommend this place 100%. After calling multiple chain grocery stores and being told they couldn’t do a simple cow print cake, I decided to place my order with Nanas Lil Sweets. I was pleasantly reminded why it is so important to support your local small businesses. The customer service made placing an order easy and left me confident that I would have a cake that would not disappoint in flavor and looks. The cake came out beautiful and most importantly tasted amazing, perfectly balanced between savory and sweet.

I’ve been going to Nana’s for over a year now and I should have posted this long ago. But since we finally did a holiday pie order, it is as good a time as ever to give this review.

Such a great bakery! The scones are amazing. Every time we have people from out of town come, I will sneak out Saturday morning and get an assortment of these scones along with an assortment of other breakfast goods that wins all out of towners over.

The Thanksgiving pies might become a christmas tradition. All of them were wonderful but the chocolate chess pie was a huge hit! Never had one as good as here.

The staff is friendly and always baking large corporate orders, wedding orders, birthday goods, and sweets for every type of event.

If you grab a coffee from Full Bloom around the corner, you would do yourself a disservice if you don’t grab a pastry here to pair it with.

Absolutely FABULOUS!! Took cake decorating class and it was the best. So patient and wanted us to succeed and have a super fun cake. Plus I got 6 cupcakes to go and they are literally the best cake and icing I’ve ever tasted. Sooooo delish. I will be back for both dessert and cake class. You won’t be sorry for stopping by!!!!

10-2024 updated review!

Attention, 626 fans! I just had to share this adorable Disney Stitch cake we got for my daughter’s 11th birthday! It’s a chocolate cake adorned with ombré vanilla buttercream, pearl candy accents, and beautiful flowers to honor Lilo. All I added was the cake topper!

The cake was incredibly moist, and the buttercream was perfectly balanced with a silky texture. At just $40, it was an enormous hit at the party! If you’re in the area, Nana’s Lil Sweets is a short hop from Downtown Raleigh, nestled in historic Garner.

Don’t miss out on this local gem! Treat yourself and your loved ones—this place is a must-visit!

I’ve gone to this bakery on and off since they opened for birthdays, holidays and other special occasions. Last Christmas I ordered a chocolate peppermint cake for my Christmas Eve table that easily matched some of the cakes I’ve had in some of the most touted bakeries in NYC. This last weekend I ordered this cake for my daughter’s 10th bday and the adults were swooning. Not only does Nana’s Lil Sweets have great food- they have quickly been entrusted to partner with the Town of Garner for many community events. This bakery constantly comes up with creative highly family oriented events that pair perfectly with happenings about town. This small shop has been a well kept secret for awhile but now the word is getting out! Make the trip to downtown Garner a short drive from Downtown Raleigh. It’s worth it!
Update: 1/2/24! I was able to get her holiday peppermint cake and can I say it was even better than I remembered! I wish my work hours allowed me to visit more often everything she makes is amazing!
Update! I asked my husband to order a cake for my 50th. I chose the vanilla cake with berry compote filling and brown butter icing. It was delicious and easily fed 6 adults with hefty portions. The shape was perfection, the icing a cascade of creamy buttery goodness, and the compote made from fresh blueberries! Pro tip eat her cakes at room temperature so you can maximize the moist texture and the symphony of flavors!

This is a super cute cozy little bakery nestled in downtown Garner’s main street. There are several display cases full of incredibly delicious looking goodies from cakes to brownies, scones to macarons and more. Everyone was super friendly and helpful when it came to asking questions and making decisions (which is so hard to do since everything looked so good!) I was originally going to pick just one cake slice, the special tiramisu, but then I saw she had the lemon lavender blueberry cake on display as well and I couldn’t resist, I had to get both! We also got a cupcake and two cake cups. Everything was so moist and rich, the frosting thick and creamy but not overpowering. The flavors of each of the different sweets were excellent, everyone in my family was very pleased with their choices. We will definitely be returning to try more goodies!

Stopped in on a Saturday morning. We got a box full of different pastries. We ate them over the weekend at families’ house, and they were all really good. They had a variety of pastries that all looked great. The staff was awesome! Will definitely be back when in the area!

Little bakery that I was excited to try. Counter guy was super helpful with suggestions and steered me to a chocolate cake scrap cup that was to die for. Average scones and not great cupcake. Nothing felt super fresh. Super cute downtown vibe but I was the only customer in there said it was my first time and the what seemed to be owner/bakers ignored me completely. The counter guy was great but it was a small shop and if I heard it was a customers first time in I would have looked up or greeted them. Cookies were just ok nothing felt fresh. I would go back for the cake cup but only if I was in the area.
