Best way to describe Nana’s is fancy retirement home food. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good food. However, the flavors are very one-dimensional and lack creativity. Additionally, we had a reservation for 8:30PM and were seated at 9:08PM.

Wonderful restaurant. Very tasty and beautifully presented dishes.
We showed up without a reservation and couldn’t find a seat. We were disappointed, but decided to make a reservation later in the evening and come back.
I didn’t regret our decision at all.
At 8:30 pm we were still able to order the chief special filet mignon, which melted in my mouths and left me wanting nothing more even though the dish came with delicious potatoes with cheese and broccoli. But the meat was so incredibly delicious that I couldn’t look at anything else.
I was just happy that we ordered the chicken liver soufflé before the main course. It’s such a tender pâté! And the caramelized onions served with it were simply beyond praise.
I can add that even the toasted bread served with the chicken pâté looked and tasted wonderful.
My daughter ordered grilled duck and said it was incredibly delicious, and the little onions stuffed with nuts were also super tasty.
Our late dinner at this restaurant was wonderful, and we will definitely be back for the desert that we skipped this evening, but I’d like to try it for sure!

Had a great time celebrating Valentine’s Day a little early on the 13th here. The only reason it doesn’t get a full 5 starts is due to the very beginning of our experience here. We had a reservation for 7:30 and got in around 7:40 and were advised the table was still not ready. With it being VDay weekend we completely understood but after being told we could sit at the bar to wait and us checking the bar and seeing 0 spots available we asked if there was another place to wait and were advised to just stand wherever felt comfortable. Another host came by and offered those exact same words. In the end we waited out by the exit (really cold) because there was no place to stand and we didn’t have any comfort there since it was our first time here. Would recommend hosts find different verbiage or an actual location where people can wait. Nonetheless eventually we were sat and had a great time. It was a prix fixe menu and it definitely did not disappoint! We started off with the scallops, crab & lobster bisque, and added the tuna crudo to start. I’ll say the only complaint on food was everything felt too salty. I personally love salt but even I thought it was a bit much. For entrees we both got the short rib crusted filet that came with broccoli and mash and honestly these made up for anything wrong throughout the whole night. The filet was out of this world. To finish off, we got the carrot cake sundae and chocolate cake and the carrot cake sundae was 100/10, it’s on their everyday menu and is worth a trip to durham on its own. Overall a good experience that I’m sure would’ve been great on a less busy night. Worth a visit for sure 9/10

Took my parents here. Ordered foie gras, grilled oysters, lamb shoulder and grilled whole fish. The four gras was done well, not overly fatty. Grilled oysters were just ok. The taste of the air didn’t really blend well with the freshness of oysters. The lamb came with veggies on the side and ravioli on top. The sauce was extremely salty. And the meat, although fell apart when you cut it, did not melt in your mouth. The fish was kinda meh. Again the butter sauce didn’t compliment the freshness too well, and the presentation was not very pleasant.
We also had NA sparkling rose and tiramisu. The rose was expensive ($59 per bottle and only comes in bottles), and while it was fruity and sweet, it was also watery. It just seems like everything was a weird mixture of flavors.
The tiramisu was the best thing of the evening.
Overall it was not worth the price.

Loved it! Neighbor told me today that he had dinner at Nanas and they were very happy with their meals. He especially recommended the chocolate soufflé for dessert. Having been at a loss for a place to eat, I immediately made a reservation for my wife and I for that same night.
Walking into Nanas, I immediately liked the vibe. Hostess was very welcoming, and our table was immediately available. So far so good.
Started off with a Manhattan up, and it was perfect! Put our order in for the soufflé since it takes 25 minutes to prepare. Ordered the SC Peach salad as a starter. The flavors were incredible. Crispy okra, peaches, butter beans, cilantro, and a host of other flavors. Great start.
For our main meals I had the SC Snapper, which was a special, and my wife had the NC cast iron grilled chicken. The snapper was superb. The heirloom tomato beurre was outstanding. I had a second piece of focaccia bread just to get all of the sauce. My wife really enjoyed her chicken, and thought it was very good too. Quite a lot of flavor. There was quite a lot of it, so we took some home.
Finally the soufflé! Well, not this time. Our server told us they had dropped the soufflé and apologized for the disappointment. They did comp a substitute desert, and although we were disappointed about the soufflé we knew we’d be coming back!

This is easily the best restaurant in Durham. I say that having lived here for 13 years. Nana’s is consistently creative and fresh. The food is savory. The service is impeccable. My wife and I go often. And I often have business meetings here as well. The menu often adjusts to accommodate what is fresh for the season, but if you go now, the lamb with the ravioli is special.

Absolutely hands down the best restaurant in the RTP area. Only took me 28 years to get here. My husband had oysters and lamb shoulder with a mushroom ravioli on top, and I had a smoked beet salad and vegetarian gnocchi. The focaccia bread with olive oil was delicious. The wine was outstanding from the piedmont section of Italy. If we were not so full we would have had the carrot cake. It was a fabulous dining experience. I simply cannot wait to go back. Our server was totally chill and so pleasant. Thank you!

Absolutely loved Nanas! We went for my husbands 30th birthday and they had so many little details that made him feel special. There was a handwritten card on the table, they brought him complimentary champagne, and a complementary gelato with a lit candle in it. Our server, Rodrick, was so friendly and really knowledgeable about the menu. The rolls were amazing, especially when dipped in the sauce that the scallops come in.
Our only complaint was the portion size on the gnocchi. Luckily, we ordered multiple courses and got dessert so it ended up evening out.
Everything about this restaurant felt super intentional and curated. The women’s restaurant even had a box with “nana’s” trinkets which was so cute. Will definitely be recommending this restaurant to all my friends and family.
