We heard about this place through friends and bookmarked it as one of the spots to try. Securing a reservation was quite easy, depending on the time.

Upon arrival, we noticed the sushi bar dominating about one-third of the eatery. The ambiance is best described as elegantly minimalistic. The host greeted us warmly and led us to our seats at the sushi bar. As we browsed the menu, we chose the following:

Appetizer – Winter Special:
Miso braised leeks – 3.5/5 stars. The outer leaves were still intact, making it less than ideal as we consumed this appetizer. Thus, I deducted half a star for that. I did enjoy the char on the leek and the sauce.

The Signature Set, which includes 5 temaki rolls (U-shaped):
1. Tuna poke – 5/5 Stars. Simply divine. The crispy shallots gave it a textural contrast to the tuna temaki itself.
2. X.O. Scallop – 4/5 Stars. The scallop should have been the star; however, the X.O. sauce was used too generously. It overpowered the scallop, preventing us from fully appreciating its sweet, buttery, and briny notes.
3. Coconut Shrimp – 3/5 Stars. The shrimp was made into a paste and deep-fried. While this is a favorite among many, according to the itamae, the flaked coconut and breadcrumbs provided plenty of crunch, but the shrimp’s natural sweetness and juiciness were lost.
4. Salmon Serrano – 5/5 Stars. Fresh and perfectly balanced by the sharp and delicious heat of the serrano peppers.
5. Cucumber Black Sesame – 4/5 Stars. Bold in flavor, which surprised me since it was the final temaki in the set. I was expecting something lighter and sweeter, as most Japanese restaurants end their sushi with the final piece with sweetness. The sauce is plum-forward, and the black sesame masks the cucumber’s lightness.

The seafood is extremely fresh, but the itamae, at times, drowned the temaki with the sauce. Ideally, the sauce should enhance, and not overshadow, the seafood. The size is their temaki are generous compared to many other sushi restaurants.

The service was polite and attentive. The itamae explained each piece as it was served, and the servers ensured our cups were always full. While the sushi bar occupies about one-third of the space, there are also tables that comfortably seat groups of four or more. Despite the spacious layout, reservations can still be difficult to secure.

Street parking is available, though the ease of finding a spot varies depending on the time.

My partner and I stopped by at the end of their lunch service today, and despite them closing up, we were eagerly greeted and encouraged to stay by the staff. I didn’t happen to get the name of the person who greeted us but you were wearing a blazer and were incredibly sweet for taking us in because you wanted us to try the food! And with good reason! Every bite was phenomenal – we had their Wagyu tartare, the signature set, and their mochurros + cannoli. I also had their Raspberry Moon mocktail, which I loved [so much so, that I failed to take a picture of it lol]. Everyone was kind and the waiter helped explain every bit of their menus to us. The music was nice, their set up was great – overall a beautiful pre-Valentine’s date for us, which we appreciate so much! We will 100% be going back!

I’ve been to NYC location many times before I moved to Jersey and this is my first time in this location. Everything was amazing and no different between both locations, caviar service was absolute fantastic my most favorite bite. All the hand rolls were excellent and the service was top notch. Will definitely be back, hands down!!

The plates were fun and tasty, great atmosphere, and friendly servers that can accommodate birthday/ pictures. The drinks are a little bland and can use some work.

Food is great! Everything was prepared while we waited, it was fresh and tasty. It will take time to get your order since it is prepared from scratch.
Service is unobtrusive, helpful and fast.
I would recommend making a reservation, especially for a larger group, since the place seems to be filling up fast – especially on the weekends.
There is no free parking – your options are paid street parking or commercial parking structure – few within walking distance from the restaurant.

Great maki spot in nice modern settings. When I tried Nami Nori in Manhattan, food was too salty, but everything in this location was better. They are good at frying stuff – crispy and chewy fried skin was so good. Get Mochurros for dessert.

This was my second time eating at this location and it was even better than I remember the first time. Everything is so fresh and the menu always has some unique seasonal items and great starters/desserts.

Obviously the temaki sets are the star of the show, and what is great is you can order them as sets or individually. They also have a great number of vegetarian options as well so there is truly something for everyone, even if you don’t prefer the fish options.

The tuna crudo never disappoints, the seasonal fluke ceviche was amazing in flavor and presentation, and the corn ribs and shishito peppers were a great break-up between courses.
I did not photograph our temaki sets this time so I’m sharing photos from the first time we ate at this location, since we ordered pretty much the same items.

I highly recommend this place for a date night, girls dinner, or any special occasion. The presentation, service, and food really make this place a standout! I can’t wait to go back.

I don’t like to leave low reviews, but I feel that Nami Nori has potential and can definitely improve in several areas. I arrived with high hopes after hearing rave reviews about their sushi offerings, but my excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I tried their Tuna Dip, which was a mixed bag of flavors that left much to be desired.

To start, the presentation of the Tuna Dip with little chips that came with it was rather underwhelming. It looked more like pure Sriracha than a thoughtfully crafted sauce, lacking the creativity and finesse I expected from a sushi restaurant of this caliber. A little twist on the sauce could elevate the dish tremendously—perhaps a citrus-infused aioli or a tangy ponzu would have added a refreshing flair.

Moving on to the Temaki, I found that not only did the flavor profiles fall short, but the prices were also hard to justify given the portion sizes. For the amount spent, I expected a more satisfying meal, but I walked out feeling hungry and a bit regretful about my lunch choice. A sprinkle of unique dipping sauces or a creative twist on traditional flavors could transform these offerings into something truly memorable.

Additionally, I must mention the seating arrangements. The wooden backs of the chairs were uncomfortably rigid, and my back was practically begging for support. A simple addition of cushions could turn a dining experience from discomfort into delight, allowing guests to linger longer and enjoy their meal.
I also ordered a drink which I thought was good but was full of ice and the size was too small for the price.

Overall, my experience at Nami Nori was a letdown. With uninspired flavors, lackluster presentation, and uncomfortably rigid seating, it fell short of the expectations set by its reputation. I believe there’s potential here, but they need to spice things up—both on the plate and in the dining atmosphere. Until then, I’d recommend exploring other options on the menu or even giving this place a little time to refine its offerings.

Absolutely amazing every single time! The staff is so friendly and welcoming and the food is always delicious and it’s presentation is very nice too!! Oddly enough I’m not even a big fan of seafood and don’t have a taste for sushi, but decided to try this place out months ago in attempt to expand my palate and couldn’t stop coming back! My boyfriend and I visit this establishment at least a couple times a month and always have a blast. My go-to three are the “spicy lobster”, “coconut shrimp”, and “spicy crab dynamite” which are all equally flavorful and mouthwatering. My boyfriend has tried a pretty big portion of the menu and so far his favorites are the “aka ebi”, “x.o. scallop”, and “spicy lobster”. The shishito peppers and the spicy tuna dip as appetizers and the churros for dessert are a must! I love everything about this place! I had my 22nd birthday dinner here with a few friends and my boyfriend plans on celebrating his here as well!

We came early and restaurant was almost empty. I did not care much for appetizers. Flavor was not there for me. Most of the dinner I was struggling to get a plastic out of temaki. It was not cooperating and my wife was helping me out….. annoying. My wife loved the place and I didn’t.
