The food itself was fantastic. Bold spices, rich sauces, and the kind of aromas that make you wish smell-o-vision existed for restaurant reviews. Each dish had depth and balance, and spice! If you can’t handle spicy food – make sure to ask for mild or medium.
Overall, great food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere. If you’re in Tyler and craving good Indian food, this spot definitely deserves a visit. Just come hungry… and maybe bring friends so you can order more things.
Also, they do serve beer and wine!
Lets start with the interior which also includes an outdoor dinning space. Its got pretty cool styling that is still simple and doesnt go over the top. Id say its just enough to be a nice restaraunt. Its also clean, but not too clean and neat. A very comfy vibe for the average dining experience. Maybe not so much for a fancy date night.
Now for the food. Or maybe the menu. Its got just enough options to make the average customer happy. Some place may offer more option and even more exotic options, but this place has the basics and a few more. The curry dishes come in mild medium or spicy. Some places give you 5 different stars, and some don’t even give an option, but this place has just enough spice options. Lets not forget about the portions. They give you a small serving of rice so be ready to order several orders of it. Like 2 or 3 extra per dish.
Last the service. My experience with the service was also just enough. They were there when I needed them. Pretty standard service.
Overall I feel like I got my monies worth and would recommend this place to others. Not for anything fancy, but for your every day average lunch or dinner. Family will appreciate this place.
If you have never tried Indian food, now is your time and your chance to do it. We are now blessed with an authentic Indian restaurant in Tyler Texas.
In my reviews I hand out compliments, and I can also criticize if needed. I try to be kind in either case.
I know that if you grew up in East Texas and really haven’t been anywhere outside of the area then you might hesitate and never give this a try. But you really need to knock down that barrier, step up, and try this food. They will help you decide what would be a good starter for you to taste the flavors.
They offer multiple levels of spice. Today, I chose medium and it could compare to that of a Mexican food restaurant that serves spicy hot salsa. I, personally can tolerate the next level up, because I have eaten this food for years.
There is nothing weird to this cuisine. It has ingredients that you would recognize from sitting at an American family home. The Taste is different than what you are used to if you don’t know what I’m talking about but I think you would accept it and like it if you didn’t choose a spice level that was too high for your liking.
Working in the restaurant industry is extremely hard. I know how hard it is to make these dishes that they offer because I cook it at home as well. These guys have to be athletes to make it through a day. And there is evidence in the food that they have worked extremely hard.
Here is a place that is nearby and you don’t have to drive to Dallas or Houston or Austin to get it. We need to help them stay alive and thrive so that that remains the story.
I want to thank the owners and operators of Namaste for coming to Tyler Texas, and bringing us the cuisine from India. It is delicious.
