I’ve been searching for good Jamaican food since I left NYC 3 years ago. I’ve tried all the more known Jamaican spots in the east bay and have always been left disappointed. I stumbled upon Nalo’s today, even though I drive by it DAILY! I’m so glad I stopped in. I’m shook. I’m writing this as I’m eating my curry goat. It’s a bit salty but so deliciously flavorful that I don’t care lol. We also got an oxtail plate. All the meat was perfectly cooked, fall off the bone, and SOOO flavorful. I need more people to know about this place, genuinely so happy to have this so close to me. It’s a bit pricey but it’s the price to pay for delicious food. And you can taste the scotch bonnet 🙂

I’m SO GLAD I came across this restaurant on Blackout Friday! I’ve been searching for the last 2 years since moving to Oakland for GOOD FOOD I FOUND THE PLACE! NALOS! I ordered oxtails, rice & peas, veggies & plantain DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Everything was flavorful, hot, nicely proportioned & prepared! I’ll be back very soon I pass this place DAILY & never knew it was there! Thanks for making me feel welcomed!

The Escovitch red snapper was delicious, but I agree with the review that the mac’ n cheese was dry. There were good portions. They also read the notes on the Uber order, which is really nice. The sides just need a lil love.

FINALLY! A quality, family owned Caribbean place in the heart of Oakland. Firstly, a very nice staff that answered any question I had. Prices are a bit high but as to be expected, however they give you PLENTY of portions. Food is prepared fresh, and plenty of seasonings. I’m hyped to come back

Wthellyyyyy wthellyyyonteee. There is no way the people are from the country of Jamaica. I got dry baked chicken with sauce dumped on top. And the ribs were dry. This is craaaaazy. Idk if it’s because it’s in California but a lot of “ethnic” restaurants really suck. It’s unfortunate.

We’ve know the owner of this restaurant for a few years – prior to Odain starting this restaurant he had mentioned it to us and told us about his vision and intention.
First time we attended his restaurant and tried his ox tail, it blew us away. Juicy meat, melts in your mouth and good amount of space.
2nd time we tried his lamb which was super delicious and little too spicy but we were warned prior to our order.
Three side and a the main is $30 dollar which is not cheap but it’s also portioned for two meals.
We love his food and we attend some of the street events such as first Friday and other events to support him.
We’re not biased with our review because we know him, if we didn’t like his food we wouldn’t go back nor would we write this review.

Food was laughably bad, paid 30 dollars for a whole plate and waited almost an hour for the food. recieve frozen mack n cheese boiled chicken no seasoning and some cold unseasoned rice. Go spend ur money on a different place this is the WORST restaurant in a 5 mile radius atleast
