The service, however, was exceptional. Our server offered honest and thoughtful menu suggestions, listened patiently to our feedback, and, upon hearing our comments about the custard, kindly removed it from the bill without hesitation.
Overall, we had a wonderful dinner experience and would highly recommend this place for its wide selection of authentic dishes and excellent hospitality.
We also loved the appam fried rice and Madirimalli chicken—both were very tasty and well prepared. The quality, taste, and presentation of the food were excellent.
Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic South Indian and biryani dishes. Will definitely visit again!
My only gripe is that the water had a weird taste. It could be an Alpharetta thing, so I will be getting bottled water next time.
Update: had the tandoori chicken which was succulent and tender. Curry does not have a lot of meat.
Food was very authentic, their biryanis are good and shrimp items are delicious.
They make Malabar parotta in house and they are very flaky and nice. Their egg curry is delicious. Classifies as decent and towards up scale Indian.
Good ambience and restrooms are decent.
After ordering, with our group size, I wouldn’t say the food took too long to come out. It was definitely nice to try something new as many people had been raving about the specialty of Appam here. But I would say order more than you think, because it’s very light and I was VERY hungry after having my order.
Everyone in the party ordered different things but quite a few people did try the Appam recommendation. It was light and airy and depending what you ordered it with, it came with a curry dish on the side.
I did the egg curry and it was delicious! The container the egg curry comes in looks large but is much smaller than expected. The quantity of egg curry was not much to my liking, but it was tasteful.
I also order a side of idiyappam, which came with two. Another person ordered the dish and it came with the side of coconut milk. This quantity was a lot, so she had extra for me to try as well.
Many people in our group ordered the Madras Filter Coffee and they really like it. I don’t drink chai or coffee in the evenings. It came really hot so pretty hard to use the stainless steele it came in. But that was the charm as well.
Overall a 4/5, because everyone enjoyed it and had a good experience. Would give this place another try.
In the interest of time we got that the lunch special, there are only 2 choices on the menu, Thali, vegetarian, and non-veg.
I ordered the non veg thali. It came out hot and quick to the table. The flavors were amazing, which is why this place is popular and frequented. Mind featured chicken and lamb with great flavors, though, one of my lamb based sampler am was mostly bone and cartilage rather than meat. Other than that, the dishes were wonderful and had plenty of rice to eat with the assorted flavors. The dishs move from spicy all the way to a desert yogurt based offering. I can’t tell you the name of all the dishes that are represented in the thali, but I would buy it again. Since I like spice, I might ask for it to be hotter the next time I go.
