We had just gotten there by 1130 or so, so it wasn’t very busy. There were maybe two or three other parties dining. However, by the time we left, it slowly became packed ! They even had the whole middle of the restaurant reserved for a party later in the day. The decor was very pretty and modern, and the food was honestly very delicious.
We ordered roti for an appetizer because it’s a family favorite. Then my mom had a crispy duck pad Thai, dad had green curry, and I had one of their fried chicken dishes.
Everything was so good — the duck was perfectly crispy and fatty. The fried chicken wasn’t too dry, and the green curry came extra spicy as asked.
Mango sticky rice, another dessert staple was yummy. The balance of their coconut sauce and the sweet mango was perfectly.
Would def come back!
The space is cozy and nicely decorated, service was attentive and friendly, and I really liked that it’s BYOB. They also have a good variety of mocktails. Definitely looking forward to coming back and trying more from the menu.
There will not be a “next time”.
The pineapple-less Thai Ginger I walked to pick up is pictured.
Added to say that I did eat my pad Thai and it was totally mid, basically Trader Joe’s-level quality. Not terrible. But definitely not 20 bucks good.
We started out with the Green Papaya Salad to share; it had a great flavor and a nice little kick. For my main course, I got the Green Curry (my favorite) with tofu and additional veggies. It is a little bit on the pricier side but I guess that’s about average for this area. The staff was very kind and were very patient with us as we enjoyed some time catching up even after we were finished with the meal.
The restaurant is tastefully decorated and there is a nice ambiance. It’s not very large, so I imagine it can get noisy on Friday and Saturday nights. But we eat here only Mon-Thurs and on Sunday, and it’s nice and quiet.
The food is absolutely amazing. Always fresh and delicious, nice and hot, and huge portions. Plus the prices are very reasonable. Service is also very good. Since this is a BYOB we enjoy bringing our own wine here.
On our last visit the fried chicken/shrimp dumplings were wonderful, and the shrimp and broccoli with peanut sauce was amazing. The jumbo shrimps were tender and perfectly prepared, and the steamed broccoli was done just right. The side of fried rice with added meat was huge and very tasty.
There is a free parking after 6 pm at a lot right across from the restaurant, but even on a weekday it can be tough to find a spot. However there are large paid municipal parking lots only a few blocks away.
This is a very enjoyable place to have Thai cuisine, and is definitely one of the best Thai restaurants we have been to. We recommend this place to our friends.
One minor issue: There is no vestibule, so on a cold winter day if you sit on the right side of the restaurant (facing from the street) you will feel a cold blast of winter air every time someone opens the door (happened to us on our last visit). So when you make a reservation in the winter you may want a table that is on the opposite wall away from the door.
My boyfriend and I got Tom yum soup with shrimp and that was so good! We slurped it up in minutes. We also got noodles and the portion was good, food was good, we felt it had enough protein. He also got the coffee which was delicious! Looking forward to returning.
