A few times that I came for dinner with a reservation and menu chosen ahead of time, food was not served till almost an hour after sitting. I usually arrive a time that’s still early for dinner before other customers come in so we would not get delayed but nope 1 hour wait.
We would drool about 30 minutes in and kids would cry for food. First hour is to eat pain rice until side dishes come out.
As for the other tables we would dinner our food before they even get theirs…I wonder what’s going on in the back
There is a lady waitress there that is very nice accommodating and overall very hard-working.
We were here recently for dinner, just our immediate family of six. One of the waiters try to upsell try to get us to order more dishes. Then when the bill came, he stated that we didn’t tip enough. What the nerve what the deuce what the hellllllll. How he treat regulars like that. I’m downgrade this from three stars to two stars.
In all fairness, food is neutral. Not the tastiest, but not the worst.
If you’re looking to spend Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, and you happen to get a reservation for this place without weight, you won’t be disappointed, but you won’t be blown away.
Hit or miss depending on who you know there. One manager is professional but he won’t be around to take care of you all the time. One guy in particular was snappy and impatient with your needs as a customer. Our favorite go to dish would be mayo shrimp. Not so much for the shrimp. We’ve had better. But this restaurant is one of the few in Brooklyn that serves it with fried condensed milk nougats. Highly recommended that! FYI.. They have private rooms on the second floor with karaoke.

Let’s talk about MSG, most restaurants will apply a bit of MSG to some of the dishes. I have been to a few places where they use it in a bigger portion and so it will dry out the mouth or just makes you more thirsty. Choi Fook though I rarely need the reason to reach for the tea or water. I can throughly enjoy the food without dying of thirst.
Banquet Food suggestions:
Black Bean sauce with clams(Third pic)
A classic especially if you enjoy seafood. It may be a bit scary but the black bean sauce helps enhance the flavor.
Cantonese Style Fried Chicken
Also another staple, just a fried chicken with no batter so you get a direct crispy skin. I had it a couple of time and the breast meat isn’t too dry but it may miss sometimes.
TIP: if it’s someones birthday, give them the drumstick.
Lamb and Tofu Skin Claypot (first pic)
This may be a bit foreign to most people but this dish is really good IMO. Comes out in a sizzling claypot with the cut up pieces of lamb.
Black bean with steamed Eel (second pic)
ok even for me it’s a bit out there. I occasionally eat it but other family members love this stuff. Honestly worth a try if you are adventurous but i believe the price may put you off. Ask before hand since it’s based on weight and technique.
Those clams with black bean sauce were actually one of the best I’ve tasted thus far.
They gave us a private room with a TV and we can choose music to play, with karaoke subtitles! That’s really cool!!!
