Beware, everything is microwaved and comes from a can. The rice literally smelled rotten. I’m getting Gatorade to prepare for the food poisoning.

Tia’s Cafe is a gem in Cerro right on the way to the Wild River’s area of the Rio Grand del Norte National Monument. They serve delicious Northern New Mexican food (especially the stuffed sopapilla). We started with warm, thick chips with salsa. Then we enjoyed the Stuffed Sopapilla (first photo) and Combination Plate with Tamale (second photo)…both were the epitome of satisfying comfort food. We finished our meal off with a warm sopapilla with honey butter. Our server was very friendly and attentive. It was an amazing meal and we highly recommend Tia’s for a taste of authentic Northern New Mexico home cooking.

Great food and people. It’s of the main travel route but only a little and very worth the couple of minutes. Good variety of food and the waitress was awesome. Bottom line: go there!

After almost dying in the wilderness, Tia’s Cafe was a tropical oasis. The lady who worked there was so sweet and helpful.
