My-O-My is an absolute gem in Berkeley! The food is delicious, the service is fast, and the portions are huge—definitely a great bang for your buck. What I love most is how they cater to everyone, whether you’re looking for healthy, diet-friendly options or a hearty, indulgent meal. First time here: got the chicken bowl, half fries, half rice, just below medium heat, added pickles. Happy to say I just finished the whole thing.

I wrote in my journal earlier today that I wanted a nourishing meal that satisfied my body with nutrients and satisfied my soul. This place did that for me in this time of need, I’m so serious. I feel a lot better after having eaten this and I’m going to use this energy to work my mind for the rest of the night, getting all the work I need to get done, done.

I’ve had My-O-My a handful of times and never once had a bad experience. The service is amazing, the portions are huge (I had to share the medium beef half and half bowl with two family members because it was that filling, and you can’t beat their prices. I recommend this place to everyone and genuinely believe it to be the best shawarma spot in the east bay. I’d post a pic of the food for possible customers as reference but I can’t help but dive right in as soon as the hot plate reaches my hands. Also- the worker didn’t make me feel dumb for asking the difference between the “on the rocks” and “on the sticks” menu options even though it was clearly written in front of me (sticks=fries, rocks= rice) 🙂

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. While waiting for my order, I saw the person preparing the food eating customers’ food with his bare hands while making it. There were no gloves, no utensils — just directly touching and tasting the food that was being served.

That completely crossed the line for basic hygiene and food safety. It made me uncomfortable and concerned about how food is handled behind the scenes. Cleanliness and professionalism are the bare minimum in any restaurant, and unfortunately this experience did not meet that standard. I won’t be returning.

I paid $11.45 for two falafel balls and a bowl of rice. The pricing is not worth it for the small “falafel on rocks”. I would spend $11.45 elsewhere. The food itself tasted okay, not very tasty but not too bad. The people and atmosphere are great, no complaints there. Wouldn’t go here as a vegetarian.

A Disappointing Dining Experience at May O My

I was quite let down by my recent visit to May O My in Berkeley, CA. The hype surrounding this restaurant didn’t quite live up to the reality of my meal.
The pricing felt excessive for the quality of the food. The combo plate was a particular disappointment. The rice flavor was mysteriously absent and cold, leaving me with greasy fries that seemed out of place with the Middle Eastern-inspired cuisine. The chicken were not upto standard warm and the lamb was overwhelmed by an excessive amount of sauce, masking its true flavor.
Overall, I cannot recommend May O My based on my experience. The lack of warmth in the food and the questionable flavor profiles were major drawbacks. It’s unfortunate that such a highly-rated restaurant fell short of expectations.

The food was good, but there was a significant delay with my Snackpass pickup. My order number was incorrectly labeled, causing the food to sit on the counter for over 20 minutes until I spoke up about not receiving my food three separate times. No compensation, just an apology.

Update: I’ve came back multiple times. I love the food, and I haven’t had an issue since! Would highly recommend.

My-O-My is easily the best Shawarma spot in the Bay Area. Most of the other shawarma restaurants in the Bay are too bland for my taste. D’Yar and Oasis were my go to for Shawarma in Berkeley, and the Bay Area in general, but My-O-My is on another level. My-Oh-My has bold flavors and many options. I got a on the sticks(Fries) and had to come back to try the on the rocks(Rice). Next time I will get the wrap. Poutine was very good. Last time I had poutine was at the old Smokes near UCB and this was significantly better. Crispy fries, nice gravy and delicious cheese. We are lucky to have a spot like this nearby.

Update: Been back a few times and still love My-O-My. Tried some of the different menu items and I gotta say I love it all. Also some of the best fresh humus I’ve ever had.

I like their spice and the good ingredients quality!

They provide free water and the vibe inside is chill. I like how they didn’t turn on crazy AC so you feel nature and homie as your home. The restroom is clean and the staff are nice 😀

Its going to be one of my go-to restaurants on Euclid now!

*can customize sides and spicy level
