Finally had the opportunity to stop at My Kitchen Witch today after several months of “meaning to stop by”. Let me begin by saying these small, family run type businesses are my favorite — I’m a sucker for a warm, welcoming environment, most especially on a cold winter’s day. Staff members go out of their way to make guests feel comfortable and are super attentive without being intrusive. Bonus points for background music selections (Yatch Rock radio – my fave!).

I came by at lunchtime, but ordered breakfast… had the French toast with a side of maple bacon, which was quite tasty and really hit the spot. The couple next to me ordered soups and sandwiches that they raved about throughout their meal. Apologies for not snaping photos of my food before diving in, but will do so on my next visit.

The unique aspect of this restaurant is that it is separated into 2 businesses — a sit-down restaurant and an adjoining take-out cafe that offers healthy fresh juices, smoothies, salads, soups, and various quick bites to go.

For those of you not familiar with the area, The Kitchen Witch is in the heart of downtown Monmouth Beach — just off of Highway #36 on Beach Road (restaurant and cafe are less than a minute from 36). They offer daily specials that are very reasonably priced and are far healthier (and less expensive) than any takeout you might pickup from a chain.

Stop by and check out this amazing, local eatery. You’ll be glad you did.

Changed it up a bit this morning. This place keeps popping up on our phones, giving it a shot. So far loving it, privately owned, cute, and they have my favorite breakfast on special! Now all I have to do is somehow get my beautiful partner out of bed for 8:00am opening.

The host skipped over me 4 times before finally seating me.. which was AFTER I asked him to be seated. The two families before me and a couple and a single man who came after me, he went up to ask about party size and then sat them accordingly. He completely ignored me and When I finally got a hold of him to ask if I could get a seat, he told me I could just sit wherever I find a seat?? uh, every other person in there was seated and a table was cleared for them, but I was supposed to “find an empty table” and just sit there. That threw my mood off, but I was still hopeful to try the food because from the looks of it, it looked good. I got the hocus pocus omelet. Honestly, not horrible but not something I would ever go back for. The environment was cute with witch themed decor in every corner but the area felt crammed. Not a place I would recommend.
I’ve worked in a restaurant too, so I understand it gets busy and when there’s a rush, you’re more likely to overlook things but it really was not that packed when I was there compared to how crazy places could get on a Saturday morning… the fact he was able to notice everyone else coming in after me and ask them if he could help them but then completely ignore me, despite seeing I’m there waiting to be seated, was a little ridiculous.

I discovered this place from an Instagram posting not too long ago, and I had to check it out. From the witches’ decor to the witch themed menu, this place is absolutely adorable. It just has such a fun atmosphere with all the little witches hanging from the ceiling. The service is friendly and the food is very good and plentiful. I really liked the strawberry butter for my biscuit. The place is kept clean, and they have plenty of seating, whether it is inside or outside. They also sell some souvenirs by the register. A major plus is that they have plenty of parking in the back. The menu seems a bit limited, but the prices are good, and everything is homemade. This place is definitely worth checking out while visiting the Monmouth Beach area, and I will be sure to stop by again the next time I pass through for breakfast.

Polite front of house staff, I’m not big on tons of dusty clutter hanging from every inch of a place but to each their own.

I’ve been there three or four times, not once has my order been right. Sure they’re happy to correct it, but getting it right the first time would be nice. I just placed a to-go order, a sausage, egg, and cheddar on an English muffin with Witch’s potatoes (whatever that means). Opened the bag after I got on the road, it’s a grilled chicken and avocado on sourdough with sweet potato fries. Not a single thing was right and to top it off the chicken was overcooked, dry, and burnt. Pretty much done with this place.

I saw they had 20th anniversary shirts for sale, I say 20 years was a good run. Time to pass the torch.

My salad was great. My husband got sick from his breakfast. The wait was very long. I tried to make reservations to avoid the wait but they don’t allow that. Waiting in the shade at the picnic table was great! Eating outside under the canopy tent was delightful with a sweet breeze. The waitress and maitre’d were wonderful!

I love stopping at My Kitchen Witch for their self-serve take-home staples like grilled chicken and salmon. The portions are perfectly sized for 1–2 people and fairly priced. Their veggies and “Select Three” lunch specials are delicious, especially on days I don’t feel like cooking but still want a fresh, homemade meal without questionable ingredients.
