Excellent pizza! We were looking for a good pizza after a long days drive. We stopped at My Friend Mike’s. This was our first visit and we were not disappointed. Great crust and excellent toppings. They had a good beer choice and recommended a friend’s brewery that provided that good beer.
It’s a laid back restaurant away from the tourist area. Plenty of parking and a super nice group of people working there. We will be repeat customers every time we are here in SLO.

Had a 20 minute layover at the Amtrak station between trains. Ordered the Mary Nera pizza online and marched over to pick it up and ran back to make my connection. Delicious bouncy crust with a tasteful amount of char. Acidic and mouth watering tomato sauce. Atomically thin slices of garlic that melt in your mouth. Would’ve been 5 stars even if I missed my train.

This pizza has incredible potential if the proper amount of cheese and sauce were applied. As it is, the dearth of cheese and sauce creates an unpleasantly dry product. It would be an average three-star pizza if not for the tasty crispy crust that elevates it to four stars.

My Friend Mike’s is hands down one of the best pizza spots around! The pizzas are made sur place, with fresh dough and quality ingredients you can taste in every bite. They’re perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside, soft inside—and bien garnies with generous toppings that don’t hold back.

And the surprise? A truly impressive selection of French wines. As a Frenchman, I can tell you—they’ve done their homework. Pairing a great glass of red or white with a freshly made pizza in a warm, friendly atmosphere? Absolute perfection.

This place has heart, flavor, and great vibes. Trust me, I’m French —you don’t want to miss this one!

Having spent some time in Italy, NYC, and Boston I was always dismayed by California’s idea of “pizza”. Mike & crew are the clear answer to that problem. Thin and foldable(Hell’s Kitchen style), great dough-sauce ratio, and choice ingredients.

They gave me VIP treatment. Mike walked around the counter to inform me of the wine selection. The guy knows his stuff.

I usually dispense with pizza crusts, but this dough is so good that I would not dare. Thanks, Mike & crew!

Let me start by prefacing, you can definitely taste the quality of this pizza. Top notch ingredients and overall delicious pizza. With that said, this comes with a price. The pies here do have a rather steep price, that’s the only catch. Make sure to order ahead of time as they do often sell out! I wish I could have mikes in my weekly pizza rotation but the heftier price compared to other places like humble oven make it hard to do so. Nonetheless, what a great pizza joint!

We were craving sourdough pizza on a road trip and came across Mike’s. Job well done! Perfect flavor and texture, we left feeling full but not heavy – ingredients were obviously fresh. The staff are all friendly as well, definitely recommend giving this place a try!

Bottom Line: Mike knows a thing or two about making fresh, high quality pizza and excellent customer service.

1. I called Mike’s but the line was occupied. They immediately called me back and helped me order a custom pizza tailored for me. Legendary customer service.

2. Sourdough crust, marinara sauce, freshly sliced garlic, and sausage was insane. Best pizza I’ve ever had.

3. I’m never going to Dominos or any other pizza joint in SLO again. This pizza smelled so good that I started eating it before I got to my front door. Literally could not wait.

The best local takeout Pizza spot that money could buy. My wife and I have been absolutely hooked by Mike & his team’s hand made pies ever since we moved to SLO county last March.

The pies are always ready at our designated time slots, we’re always greeted with a warm welcome/smile from the team, and we bring home a delicious pizza with SLO county locall sourced ingredients 100% of the time. Our favorite has been the Pep/Sausage combo with a special request for extra red sauce. Seriously the best pizza in SLO especially at it’s price point compared to having to go downtown + pay for parking/tip to be dined on.

This small mom and pop operation has a cult like following from other pizza lovers in the area and we could see why from the very jump. Amazing operation and great people behind it. Hope to be eating these pies for years to come!

I’ve been to nearly every pizza place in SLO over the last 30 years and my friend mikes is exceptional. I like Bear and Wren, I like Pizza Republic, the Nuccis Hawaiian has a place in my heart, Palo Mesa makes a good pie, and Flour House’s wood fired pizzas are great. They’re all good pizzas, but My friend mikes is separate from all of those because of its style, and from what I’m told by people who know better it’s a very New York style compared to what’s usually out here. Their pizza is a thin crunchy crust with a little chew and a very toasty bottom. Great cheese to sauce ratio as well. Judging by the quality and cook of the pizza the other more topping laden ones will hold up just as well. Some other places in town mentioned above even do a style similar to mikes, but they don’t do it as good, and they don’t do it for $25 for a 16″. We had a simple pepperoni pie, only one sized is served, and we obliterated every tasty morsel. Go out of your way to try my friend mikes, I drove by it for way too long before finally getting to enjoy it and I won’t be missing out again.
