My dear friend Jamie lives in Saratoga, Utah. I live in New York. On 1/21 it was his birthday and I wanted to use a local baker/bakery, near him, that would deliver a cake to his home.
My first call was to a different bakery. I was told that they didn’t make cakes anymore, (really??!!) and, then that same bakery told me to call Walmart. (Really???!!!)
But the second call was meant to be.
Hence, Sofie, the proud, and lovely proprietress of My French Delicacies. (Oh — did I mention that she was indeed, French?!)
Right away I knew that my search was indeed, over. I just knew. (You’ll know too.)
I mentioned to Sophie the fact that Jamie loved anything with apples (altho she rattled off so many other yummy sounding choices) and then told me she’d bake it herself. I was elated. I was speaking with the pastry chef!! And the price???? Well. That sealed the deal. Here in NY? 5 times that amount of money.
What was delivered was a beauuuuutiful, rather large apple/pie/tart. (Photo to come.)
And, ready for this? Jamie told me it was still warm!!! Can you imagine?
It’s presentation was equally as beautiful, which included the message I requested which Sophie had written IN HAND on a fabulous card, and the box, well. You’ll see it in a second.
Jamie couldn’t wait to taste it. He, his brother (and HIS wife) were all going to dinner but Jamie couldn’t resist that home-made, freshly-baked apple pie smell, so a slice of his birthday ‘pie’ became an appetizer. He called me and said: “That’s it! Noooo more Entenmen’s!” He also thought it shocking that a bakery of this caliber was so close to him.
I was too, frankly.
My first contact with Sophie was made in Monday. By 4pm on Wednesday, Jamie had this (see photo) in his hands.
Sophie. You went above and beyond the moon and the stars to bring such a fine, finishing touch to Jamie’s birthday. You are so creative, and so talented. Obviously, you love what you do.
No need to make My French Delicacies your second call as I did. Make it your first.
The entire process was ‘as easy as pie’ …..
Thank you again, Sophie. You are responsible for bringing not only a sweet, elegant, delicious dessert to Jamie’s home, but you delivered some fun to him too!!
I’d give you 11 stars if I could.

The clafoutis is a mild sweetness compared to American desserts. The delicate flavors and subtle sweetness of the cherries was just right.
The quiche had a flaky buttery delicious crust. The filling was perfectly savory and salty.
