Trying to give six stars. Best seaweed salad I’ve ever had, which was a surprise because I ordered it on a whim and didn’t expect a whole plate of seaweed I’d never had before excellently seasoned with shredded daikon radish in a crisp yuzu dressing with cucumber and tomato. The textures and refreshing flavor were something I’m going to dream about. And then we were served complimentary matcha udon sticks which were addictive and I would regularly buy them in a large bag for snacking if such a thing existed. And then what we came for – the udon. Served in monster-sized-but-beautiful pottery bowls, the udon impressed on visual alone. I ordered the mushroom vegetable udon in which I was served more mushrooms and more kinds of mushrooms than I’d ever seen. The broth was somehow delicate and hearty at the same time and the noodles were plentiful, thick, and springy. I’ve determined after this meal that udon is my favorite noodle. My partner got the curry udon which came in another beyond belly-filling portion with as much meat as I had bounty of mushrooms. We both had enough to take home for lunch the next day and it was so delicious we went through with carrying it back with us instead of just leaving it behind. A patron near us ordered the karaage fried chicken which was also a very big portion and looked incredible. And all this food for what I would say is a very good price! A much less exciting and much smaller udon bowl I had recently in Brooklyn cost $10 more than the one I had at Muteki. Some of the best food I’ve had all year, great sake selection, cozy atmosphere, excellent decor makes you think you might be at an Izakaya not in Brooklyn, wonderful service. Can’t wait to return and try the whole rest of the menu which also includes ramen, donburi, and some raw/cold options as well.

The restaurant is nicely decorated and lit, and I love the unique bowls that the udon comes in!

I got a mentaiko cream udon, which has a great portion size and tasted good (though it is unusually tangy/sweet compared to mentaiko cream udons that I’m used to eating… it says it on the menu that it will be tangy so if it’s not your thing, don’t get this.) My friends got soup/curry udons and they all were great in portion size as well! The curry udon is more broth-ish than curry-sauce-ish.

Unfortunately, I can’t recommend the muteki pudding. My friends and I were all not fond of the taste. The staff explained that the flavor came from the toppings on it, but I’m almost certain that the milk pudding itself was sour. Service was also not great, there seemed to be only one waiter struggling to help all the tables. The cost of drinks, appetizers, and desserts are also very pricey despite the smaller portions ($9 for a matcha and $8 for a pudding).

Overall, it’s hard to recommend this place when there are other udon spots that will provide the same or better value for a lower price.

This was one of the best Ramen places I’ve ever had the honor of discovering in the city! The atmosphere screamed authenticity with the amazing Japanese designs and coloring all around. I was able to have a seat at the bar and it is a much better experience than a regular table. The Karaage that was served was extremely well made and authentic with an exceptional sauce covering the meat. It was so wonderful I just had to get more of it in my Ramen. Id like to thank the server Eileen for her amazing service and positive drive when serving me.

We came here for the first time. We started with salmon tartare, fried chicken, tofu salad and seaweed salad.

The salmon tartare was very nice. The salmon was plated on a thinly sliced, fried lotus root. It also had some fried matcha udon bits. The flavor was nice and it was fun to eat.

The fried chicken was very delicious! Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The spicy mayo paired with it.

The tofu salad was a bit different from what I expected. It had cubed tofu, and cucumbers. It also had some cooked spinach, fresh cherry tomatoes, fresh baby spinach, and fried crispy matcha udon. The dressing was nice, but I would ask for more.

The seaweed salad was nice and refreshing. It had a good variety of different seaweed. It also had some cherry tomatoes and lettuce. In my opinion, it could use more vinegar.

For entree, we got a curry udon and a salmon udon.

The curry udon was served hot. The broth was nice and pungent. It was mildly spicy, and very flavorful. The pork bits were nice but a bit too sweet. It also had some cooked spinach, a soft boil egg, snd some spring onion. It was perfect for winter time.

The salmon ikura udon was served cold. It was covered with slice salmon. It also came with some fresh seaweed, dried seaweed and shredded white radish. It was nice and refreshing. The udon was the special matcha udon.

The udon was cooked perfectly. It was bouncy and chewy. I loved it!

The space was organized and cute.

Solid spot right by Barclays Center! I highly recommend their udon, since that’s what they’re known for. I DONT recommend the Salmon Don. It was very plain and it came with flavorless seaweed. It comes with a small dish of dipping soy sauce. While the portion size was plentiful, it was mostly tasteless.

On the other hand, I enjoyed the apps! The Yakitori Skewers, especially, were soft and melted in my mouth! The Salmon Tartare and Vegetable Tempura were also good.

Attentive + kind staff. Plenty of seating. Overall, great, convenient spot for a pre-Barclays meal.

Cute neighborhood spot with solid food, though it leans more Chinese-fusion than truly Japanese. The matcha drink was super refreshing, and the pork gyoza was crisp and satisfying. Udon and rice dishes came in big portions and looked great too. The only downside is the lunch special: it doesn’t really save you much bc of the price is the same, so it feels a bit overpriced for what you get.

Very well spaced and designed restaurant. Service was very attentive (kept water glasses full constantly) and fast with everything.

Known well for its cheeseburger Gyoza and rightfully so! Very good selection of other appetizers as well, and nice unique ramen offerings too. Recommend a reservation in advance!

We went for restaurant week and the portions & pricing was fantastic. 1 app, 2 entrees and 1 dessert for 2 people was $60. We got the udon cracker salmon tartar app, niku udon & tori karaage don for entrees, Muteki pudding for dessert. Everything was fantastic. I was really pleased with the portions – we had leftovers! I loved the udon noodles and the fried chicken so yummy

Udon Muteki is a gem—plenty of seating, great vibes, and super friendly staff. The food hits the spot every time. I tried the cheeseburger dumpling, something I’ve never seen before, and it’s a must-try!
