After a hot morning shopping through the Round Top market, we headed back into Brenham insearch of a cool place to rest up and eat something easy and not fried, for once. A quick search sent us to Must be Heaven, and boy, did the smell of baking bread that greeted us on opening the door live up to the name! Sandwiches are not the only thing on offer, but it’s what we got. Grilled cheese, Monte Cristo, French Dip and a chicken club, served with a drink, chips and the classic pickle spear. All simple, but tasty! Broccoli cheese soup also a winner. Let’s not forget the caramel pecan cheesecake and my own key lime pie…delicious. As a sign on the wall says- always room for pie. Order is counter-style and wait to grab and take to your table…and despite the lunch rush line snaking through the joint, it moved incredibly fast. Would definitely pop in again!

The food and pies are amazing. Atmosphere is fantastic. Only one complaint. I ordered a stuffed avocado with tuna salad. They gave me a stuffed avocado with chicken salad. When I took it back for replacement. The blonde haired woman was not apologetic. Grabbed my plate and threw it in the trash. First off it was not my fault they made it wrong. I over looked her meanness due to the fact this place was so lovely.

Great option for lunch. My chicken salad and soup hit the spot. Others in my group had the pimento cheese BLT and they really enjoyed it. Need to go back to try the pies.

Must Be Heaven has such a charming soda‑shop vibe that makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in. The space is bright, nostalgic, and spotless — including the bathrooms, which were impressively clean. The staff were warm and attentive, adding to the relaxed, hometown feel.

One of the highlights for me was the sweet tea. It’s surprisingly hard to find a place that gets it right, but theirs was perfectly balanced and genuinely refreshing. I also appreciated seeing several vegan options on the menu — a thoughtful touch that makes the place accessible to more people.

Overall, Must Be Heaven delivers comfort, friendliness, and quality in a way that feels effortless. A great stop for anyone looking for good food, good tea, and a welcoming atmosphere.

We get a menu and get in line to order, similar to lubby’s but here is mostly sandwiches and two options for soup, pies are delicious and ice cream of course, there is a sitting kind of A&W were you can order floats, ice cream, pies, etc., we loved it!

We were at a company retreat and ordered a catered lunch yesterday. We did this last year and the food was great. This year it was a 180 in the opposite direction. My table ordered a chicken salad – she has been sick ever since trying to eat it, a French dip, I have never had meat so tough to eat- a monte cristo – all grease. There was not one person out of 18 that we were told enjoyed the food.
I do not write many reviews but thought this time it was necessary.

A true small Texas town gem! Cafeteria style walk up ordering means super fast service. We were all at our table with our food in 5 minutes. Sandwiches are fresh and delicious with homemade bread. The soups are also fresh and hot and very tasty. My salad was crisp and delicious. The watermelon unsweetened ice tea was a perfect compliment to a great lunch! Our favorite spot when we are in town can’t wait to come back!

This cafe is wonderful! I had the French Dip — the bread was fresh, there was plenty of meat & cheese, & the au jus was definitely homemade.

I also tried the chocolate meringue pie — best I’ve heard had. It literally was a little slice of heaven.

The staff was also very friendly & the place has a very cool antiquitie style.

I definitely recommend this spot. It is busy. We waited in line for about 15 minutes, but it was so worth it!

It was just ok, not worth the wait. The service was like what you would expect at a fast food restaurant. The crust on the quiche was delicious, so my guess is that their pies are great. The quiche filling was tasteless except for sun dried tomatoes clumped together. The sandwiches were just ok. They were out of the special but it was later in the afternoon around 2pm. If your expectations are a cute family style atmosphere and convenient dining in downtown, this is a good place. Just wasn’t impressed with the food.

Got here when it opened, so super fast service.
Very nice staff.
Best soft drinks ever! Good mix. Worth cheating today, only drink about 1 soda a month.
Very good, wife liked the chicken salad sandwich and broccoli cheese soup.
My club was really good. Very good cherry pie! Wife really liked her bourbon chocolate chip pecan pie.
Will visit again next time we are in town.
