Had a great late night meal at this delightful old world, cozy gem restaurant and bar. Menu looked great, but wanted to go light so had beet and goat cheese salad and absolutely delicious mushroom risotto. It’s a side dish but is very generous portion. Say hey to Ian who is great storyteller from his Hollywood days to being an evangelist of Muse and lovely Charleston. This restaurant was the only one that fulfilled my vision of what I thought old world Charleston looked like and tasted like. Chk it.

The Hungry Detective and Special Agent Deirdre had the most fabulous dining experience at Muse right before the comedy show at Stage 99. Super cool and hip vibe located on this little backstreet off of King Street… Can’t wait to return and try the entrées. We had the meatballs and a couple small starters. That were absolutely fabulous if I could give six stars I would.

Absolutely amazing food. Fantastic service. We had a “family style” dinner where we all shared 4 appetizers, 4 entrees and 4 desserts. Not a single disappointment in the lot. Looking forward to going back, again.

There are only a handful of meals in my 48 trips around the sun that I can say are TRULY unforgettable…our evening at Muse is one of them!
In fact, those I’ve shared the story with do not believe me or think I’m embellishing, but the truth is each of the five individuals in my dinner party will be reminiscing on the evening of January 4th, 2025 at different times throughout their lives. And please understand while the food was brilliantly spectacular, the most remarkable aspect of our time at Muse was the interaction with the owner, Donnie, whom my kids now refer to as Uncle Donnie
I was the last to arrive at our table, as I had dropped everyone off at the quaint front open court entrance of Muse. As I ascended the stairs I heard a roar of laughter, which included my family, so I was more than curious as I turned the corner and entered one of the semi private dining areas.
Donnie greeted me, continued his conversation with our table to learn more about our dietary restrictions, and then promptly took the menus away from our party and said, “I got you, just trust me”. This was the beginning of a dining experience that may never be surpassed.
In addition to what seemed like an endless waive of curated courses, designed specifically for our palettes, Donnie held court investing his time and energy into my family. I’ll keep the details private, but along with countless laughs we shared many life lessons and goals for the new year, and left with more than a special birthday dessert (Thank you Fawn!).
While I doubt our evening will ever be replicated, we cannot wait for our next trip to Charleston. And, if you’re like me and are big into reading reviews before selecting a new restaurant, you’ll see a common thread in the magic of Muse. So should the stars align, and you find yourself at Muse, maybe you too will meet Uncle Donnie

Celebrated the day before Valentine’s Day here to avoid crowds. Enjoyed the sparkling rose. The bread and oil was just that. Highly recommend adding spices to the olive oil since it was not enjoyable with zero flavor to it. The apps were good. The duck was VERY FATTY. Don’t recommend it. The tuna tartar was full of what tasted like full of mayonnaise and couldn’t even taste the tuna. Don’t recommend it either. The sausage lamb was good, and the Taziki sauce was good! The beet salad was fresh but very small. The service was good. The online pictures make the restaurant look much bigger than it actually was (which was fine). The outdoor would be nice for when the weather is better. Would go back and try again. Good location and parking lot was across the street.

This was such a magnificent experience. Not only was the food amazing but Donnie gave us the option to have him select a shared menu based on a few questions he asked about likes, dislikes and allergies. He selected and served everything including our beverages and it was all flavorful, pleasing to the eye and much of what we would have ordered if left to our own devices. I highly recommend this experience,

Muse is a beautiful restaurant with amazing food and even better staff. I was there for a bachelorette celebration and Donnie made the experience so fun! He chose several dishes for us as well as cocktails and wine to pair our individual palates and the dishes. We shared several apps, entrees, and desserts and each one was incredible. Even the pickiest of us found several dishes they loved. Each staff member we interacted with was truly lovely and I already can’t wait to go back!

IF I COULD GIVE MUSE 25/10, I WOULD! This was the absolute best experience any of us have had, at a restaurant in YEARS! Donnie curated 3 spectacular courses, in addition to custom cocktails and wines!! Donnie chose 5 apps, 5 mains and 3 desserts for our group of 9 girls. The biggest thing was Donnie made it an experience for us! We didn’t have to make decisions, we simply sat back and enjoyed! He ended with inspirational words for the bride which had us all in tears. I could not say enough good things about Donnie and Muse!

The food was fantastic. Our waiter, Donny, was amazing. We had a group of eight and he designed our meal for us. He picked our appetizers and entrees to share. The food was delicious. The outdoor patio area was a really great place. Highly recommend stopping here if you’re in Charleston.

Large female parties beware!
Our experience echoed the experience of several others, and we should’ve listened. The co-owner(?), manager(?), random dude off the street(?), Donnie, was a con artist. His demeanor gives the allure of personalized and attentive service when the delivery is the complete opposite. Empty water glasses, cold food, waiting 20+ minutes for drinks, no one coming by for extended periods of time. Food was okay; for what we paid we definitely could have gotten better. Cocktails were forced on to us; I didn’t even drink mine and was still charged for it. We chose our own entrees after much protest from Donnie that his experience would be preferred. The nail in the coffin was the check: Donnie went on a tangent (common occurrence) about how any restaurant that can’t split your bill is unaccommodating blah blah blah. He made a production of *attempting* to split. He passed out 2 and after they were way off said “oh never mind they’re all within $20, just give me 7 cards.” Mind you, we haven’t even seen an itemized bill. I paid $80 for 1 drink I didn’t touch and a split entree/app. This was a testament to how much we wanted the experience to end.
