I was in the mood for trying out more of the menu. I got Taiwanese popcorn chicken (small), Taiwanese braised minced pork rice (small), intestine/oyster vermicelli, Taiwanese meatball soup, and mango refresher tea.
-popcorn chicken 5 – I liked that he added the fresh basil leaves with it. They didn’t add it at the 9 Bar Taiwan Cafe in Aurora and that one wasn’t as good as this one. The chicken was nice and crispy. They were well seasoned and succulent when you bite into them.
-braised minced pork rice 5 – this is the best one I’ve had in Illinois. I ordered a small bowl but it was packed. He added some pork floss for additional flavor. That braised minced pork was immaculate. I finished this bowl fast because it was that tasty.
-intestine/oyster vermicelli 5 – this tasted just like in Taipei. A sufficient amount of intestine and oysters. Vermicelli was soft. You can drink the broth. It has a great taste.
-Taiwanese meatball soup 5 – this is a good soup to have when it’s cold. The meatballs were tender. The broth was savory.

Most of the low ratings came from the old ownership and the new owners came in about 6 months ago. Their social media hasn’t been updated. From my personal observation in person as well as looking at reviews online, most of the non Chinese customers order a boba drink or Thai rolled ice cream. The Chinese customers mostly order Taiwanese food and that is where the real gold is at. Boba tea and rolled ice cream you can get that anywhere. The Taiwanese food here you can’t. 9 Bar Taiwan Cafe in Aurora by the Fox Valley mall pales in comparison. Staff is limited so it does take awhile but I promise you the food is worth it. Prices are fair because remember the food here isn’t prevalent.
There is plenty of seating, if you’re going to order multiple dishes you’ll need a bigger table. Most of the customers get takeout so dining in shouldn’t be a problem. We ordered Taiwanese fried pork ribs, sweet potato balls, Taiwanese beef noodles, braised pork intestines, milkfish congee, and hot soy milk. I’ll be back to try more dishes.
-Taiwanese fried pork ribs 5 – these are deep fried but when you bite into them, the meat is moist and well seasoned. A good amount of meat.
-sweet potato balls 5 – these are a good dessert or snack. The middle is chewy while the outside is soft. You can have different toppings on them.
-Taiwanese beef noodles 5 – one of the best ones I’ve had in Illinois. The braised beef was super tender, it easily comes apart when you bite into it. Better than the DTF version in Vegas. The broth is flavorful.
-braised pork intestines 5 – one of my favorites. It doesn’t require much chewing and I really enjoyed the sauce. You won’t even know it’s pork intestines when you start eating.
-milkfish congee 5 – this has rice, chunks of milkfish (it has some bones since it’s fish), ginger and green onions. It’s great to eat on a cold day.
-hot soy milk 5 – good drink to have for when it’s cold. They use real soy beans.
As a Taiwanese, I feel so lucky to enjoy such authentic Taiwanese flavors here in the U.S. Highly recommend!
The owners are super friendly and welcoming. I’ll definitely bring more Taiwanese friends next time to share the taste of home!
The location in downtown Naperville is very convenient, especially with the free parking right across the street. I highly recommend your place and will definitely be visiting again soon.
Now let’s talk food—this place is a fusion dream! The Japanese braised pork was absolutely delicious—rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with sweet, tangy, and spicy notes. Then there’s the Taiwanese popcorn chicken—crispy, perfectly seasoned with that touch of basil… pure goodness.
And don’t even get me started on the tea and boba drinks—so many choices and each one more refreshing than the last!
Munchies Plus is a total win for families, foodies, and anyone looking for flavor, fun, and fantastic service. Your taste buds will thank you!
The taro dessert is delicious, but considering the price of 10 dollars, it doesn’t feel very worth it. If it were 6 or 7 dollars, I might feel it’s reasonable. Overall, the food is good, but some items feel a little overpriced.
The owner was super friendly and let us try the freshly made Taiwanese popcorn chicken and Japanese curry rice — both were delicious! The menu has so many authentic Asian street foods I’ve never seen in the U.S. Can’t wait to come back and try more!
The drink selection is just as strong. Classic boba options, fruit teas, and a few unique specials make it hard to choose just one. Everything tastes fresh, and the boba has the right texture. Whether you’re dropping in for a quick bite or grabbing a drink to go, this place is reliable, affordable, and always leaves you satisfied.
