Last time I came to Mullets Uptown Ankeny the service was bad and the food wasn’t the best. I know places have off days so we decided to give Mullets another chance and stopped in for Dinner and cocktails. I’m glad we came in, the Food and drinks were good and our server Sierra was great. Will definitely be back soon.

Our server Sierra was absolutely wonderful and great with the menu. She was quick with our drinks and continued service. This was our first time at this location. Food was on point and came out timely and hot. Atmosphere was a mixture of old Cafe with a sports bar mix.

Went for breakfast with some gals and had a great time! Our server Courtney was kind, easy going and hooked us up with some pumpkin pancakes to split as a breakfast appetizer. I wish my avocado toast flight had a little more substance to it, but everything else tasted great!

Mullets in Uptown Ankeny – Brunch Review
Well, we finally made it to Mullets for a meal — and brunch was the perfect choice!
Mullets is a newer spot in Uptown Ankeny, located right off the High Trestle Trail with plenty of parking for both cars and bikes. The interior has a welcoming main bar on the first floor with plenty of comfortable seating at both tables and the bar. But the real gem is the rooftop — a full bar and expansive dining area with great views of the Uptown district. On the beautiful day we visited, it was picture-perfect.
Access to the rooftop is easy via stairs or elevator — a big plus. There’s lots of seating, both in the sun and under shade, so you can enjoy it either way.
We were seated quickly and welcomed with ice waters within minutes. Naturally, we started with Bloody Marys ($9), which are made with their house recipe. They’re simple but flavorful. I like mine spicy, so I asked for Tabasco — and our waitress went on a mission to find some. She came through! (Big thanks to her!)
The brunch menu (which, oddly, isn’t posted anywhere visible) was tough to choose from — not because it lacked options, but because I wanted everything. We ended up going with the Cinnamon Swirl Pancakes and the Eggs Benedict Flight, and both were winners. The pancakes were some of the best I’ve ever had — rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The Eggs Benedict were also excellent, though definitely a challenge to eat without a sharp knife and a second plate.
Pro tip: If you order the Eggs Benedict Flight, ask for an extra plate. The presentation is fun, but not very functional.
We’ll absolutely be back to try more. This place is a great addition to Ankeny — especially for brunch lovers!

Mullets Uptown Ankeny has a fantastic rooftop bar! The atmosphere was perfect for our sunny evening – relaxed and enjoyable. The service was friendly and attentive. Here’s the thing though – the drinks come in plastic cups, which felt a bit cheap. Luckily, the water came in reusable aluminum cups, so we were able to use those for our mules.
We haven’t tried the food at this location yet, but the dishes we saw looked amazing, especially the hot Nashville chicken sandwich. That’ll definitely be our order next time! Overall, a great spot for rooftop drinks with a view, but be prepared for the plastic cups if you want a drink on the rooftop…

Food was awesome. Service was very very friendly, but not very quick for it just being us in there. Not a big deal and definitely recommend going. Food came out fast and the Cali turkey club was really good just wasnt ready for it to be a warm melt type sandwich. I imagine i read the menu wrong and it probably says something about it being a hot sandwich… 😛 sandwich, fries and the ranch (thicker consistency) was all VERY good.

I’ve been to this location multiple times and I’m always impressed! We’ve adopted Courtenay as our favorite server, she’s very friendly and knowledgeable! However, we’ve had great experiences with all of the staff. We’ve had many dishes but only have a picture of the chicken nachos which were very delicious! I’d also recommend the country fried steak, nashville hot chicken sandwich, breaded pickles and their bloody Mary’s are delicious! Definitely give this place a try!
