I came in to check it out, was greeted immediately. The menu looked awesome, but I was looking for a steak, and they carry more ‘bar’ food, like burgers and wings. Unique styles, and I’m sure they’re delicious (well, maybe).
I came back for dessert!
Though it was at least 2 hrs before closing, you’d thought they were closed! Took a minute to be seated by the same bright smile that greeted me the first time I walked in. She sat me and disappeared. It took quite a while before RJ (according to receipt) came to ask if I’d like to order. I mean, that’s why I came in and was sat
So, I ordered the Yams Nachos Dessert. Its a great combination of sweet potatoe fries with great ice cream, chocolate drizzle, and caramel. Hence, the 5 stars for it!
However, everything handed to me was sticky! The plastic ware, my dessert (kinda understand), my bill, by credit card, the machine to leave tip and sign!
Tip would have been at least equal to dessert, had I received better service. I literally sat there looking ain’t around, hoping someone would take my order and check back on me!
If you don’t know Cliff, you should. He’s always working crazy hard and his restaurants always run so smoothly. We have never had a bad meal. We have catered. We have pushed Mugshots to its limit and it’s always top notch. What an epic Mississippi company that represents us so well. (Bonus – he’s a former USM ace and one of the biggest supporters of baseball in the state)
He told us to get the chili, so I got the new special – the “chili trio” with a1/3 lb burger, fries, and a cup of chili.
I’m normally skeptical of restaurant chili. Never enough spice, too much cumin, etc. But this chili? Different. Tastes homemade. Great spice. Well balanced. Felt like home on a cold and wet fall evening.
The burger was juicy. They have the best buns here. Just perfect and epic and everything I wanted tonight!
Holly got the burger bowl and swapped sweet potato fries for regular fries and it was awesome.
Our server, RJ, was great. The bartender (whose name I did not catch) was hilarious. Knew how to keep everyone engaged. Great service.
Just a great night. Perfect meal. Doesn’t get better than that!
Stopped in at Mugshots in Pearl, MS for a casual dinner with a group of five. It was our first time at this location, and while the place has solid ratings, our experience was a mixed bag.
The atmosphere was quiet—definitely a slow night—which made the staff’s slightly bored demeanor understandable. Our server, however, stood out with friendly and attentive service, which we really appreciated. One downside: the restaurant wasn’t as clean as we’d expect given the low traffic, and there was a noticeable funky smell even before reaching the restrooms. That’s something that could—and should—be addressed.
We skipped appetizers and went straight for entrees. Highlights included the Cajun fried chicken pasta and the Philly wrap with sweet potato waffle fries—both flavorful and satisfying. The wings were well-cooked and tasty, while the burger patties leaned a bit dry, though they still had decent flavor. The Mac Daddy Burger stole the show: a monstrous sandwich with grilled cheese buns that was as indulgent as it sounds.
Overall, it was a decent experience. The food had some standout moments, but the place could use a little more polish and attention to detail—both in cleanliness and in consistency across the menu.
We are some Texas boys and have high regards for a great burger. I got the Texan burger obviously. It was great. The bun was awesome and the patty and toppings were solid. The fries were better than run of the mill fries but not a super top for me. My bud got the rajun Cajun pasta and the chicken was a little dry but overall favors were pretty good.
Drinks were strong and good just slow. Ambiance was nice, pretty normal bar and grill stuff. Either way from our brief stop in I’d say go mess with a burger and hopefully the bar is more on point next time. Good luck guys!
The burgers were great. We ordered a Savell, the Comeback, the Stu’s Mushroom burger, a Bishop burger and a Bishop to go! Each burger was great, seasoned well and full dressed! The fires weren’t hot when the food came out, but Kaylee addressed it immediately and fixed everything!
The restaurant definitely had the a/c on while we were there. We would definitely return if in the area and wanted a good burger!
The server had headphones in while taking my order and was vaping over the sauce stand, which felt extremely unprofessional and unsanitary. On top of that, I overheard a conversation between staff in the kitchen where someone said the chicken had fallen on the floor and another employee responded, “rinse it off and make it.” That alone was enough to make me uncomfortable about the food being served.
The kitchen staff were also playing loud, obnoxious music in the back, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Overall, the environment felt chaotic and poorly managed.
For a first-time customer, this was not a good impression at all. I will not be returning.
