Very epic this new location.
Authentic Cajun cuisine and Crawfish that’s oh so good!
The food is spot on and decorated New Orleans style with not only great food but really great staff.
My new favorite place
-A true Louisianian
Ordered the fried pepper jack cheese, catfish and red beans combo, and the po’boy with fried gator and fries. I have never had pepper jack cheese sticks. They were made well, I just didn’t like it. The red beans were very good. The catfish was a bit spicy. Unfortunately, it was mushy and tasted off. The po’boy was bland. The remoulade was not to my liking. I forgot to specify that I wanted mayo, but the waiter didn’t ask either. I ended up eating the gator by itself. The gator needs seasoning badly. It was a bit rubbery, too. The fries are breaded. I do not like breaded fries. Usally I can eat them, but I just couldn’t this time. The restaurant/bar is very big. Most of the seating is bar top tables with a few low tops near the stage. The place was clean. There’s pool tables and games in the back. The patio is a nice size with a bar as well. Our waiter was very nice. The service was slow. It place was very empty. Maybe because it was around 5pm, but no one looked like they wanted to be there. I know that taste is subjective, but preparation is not. Maybe it was an off day.
When I arrived, I initially planned to dine in. The restaurant was fairly empty, yet no one greeted us at the front desk. After standing there for about 10 minutes, someone finally came out and we decided just order to go. She told us that if we wanted to order to-go, we had to go to the bar counter. Fine.
I went to the bar to place an order for a Special Snow Crab combo (which is not cheap) and 3 lbs of live crawfish. That’s when the staff told me that crawfish cannot be ordered to-go. I asked a reasonable question: “What if we dine in, but don’t finish the food and want to take it home?” The answer was still NO.
That made absolutely no sense to me. Are customers expected to throw away uneaten food if they don’t finish? This policy feels completely unreasonable and poorly thought out. The only conclusion I can come to is that they simply didn’t want my business.
If the restaurant is dine-in only, then please put a clear sign outside so customers don’t waste their time walking in and waiting, only to be turned away.
I was extremely frustrated by the way this was handled. Based on this experience, I have no interest in trying this place again and will not be returning.
My main was fried catfish with red beans and rice. The red beans and sauce tasted like it was out of a can or store bought mix. The sauce was salty and bland with more of a generic meat sauce taste and not much cajun spice/flavor. The andouille sausage bits were small, rubbery, and very overcooked, with no flavor. Beans appeared to be from a can. Rice was mushy. The catfish had decent flavor, but was clearly overcooked, as the crust was dark brown and brittle. A piece of “jalapeno cornbread” was included. It did not have the cornmeal taste or texture of cornbread and looked and tasted more like a savory muffin with a couple of small pieces of jalapeno inside.
Ordered the cheesecake with pecan praline sauce topping for dessert. The sauce was tasty, but the cheesecake itself was obviously from a Jello or similar brand “no bake” box mix, and extremely underwhelming.
The total cost of the meal for myself and my girlfriend (I did not review her food, only my own) was $70.00, plus tip, for two mains, a soda, a water, and a dessert. Definitely not worth the price.
Service was slow with an unconcerned attitude. I had to wait 10+ minutes for a beverage refill more than once. At one point, the server took my drink for a refill and was gone several minutes before wandering back by the table and suddenly remembering that he’d taken my glass, going back to the refill area, and returning with the refilled glass a couple of minutes later.
Worst was the men’s room. Smelled very bad, like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. The urinal was out of order, paper towel dispenser was empty, and the hand dryer was very underpowered and shut off after 2-3 seconds, so I was continually having to move my hands away from the dryer and back to get it to restart.
VERY disappointing compared to the old location, especially the food.
