The service was great! The place was busy for a Monday lunch. We decided to share a few items. For appetizer I ordered the NOBS New Orleans BBQ Shrimp. It was served with toast to dip in the wonderfully enticing sauce that the shrimp were swimming in. Simply delectable!

For the entre we had the Taterfish, Redfish which was supposed to be encrusted in hash browns topped with a light lemon sauce. The hash browns were only on the bottom and were charred a little too much. Served with Grilled Asparagus not a great way to cook as the tops were burnt. The redfish was wonderful but wished it has a little more sauce.

Dessert was Bread Pudding – the to glaze and ice cream were fantastic but could not overcome the burnt bread pudding. Asked the server and she said that’s how they serve it. The restaurant replaced it with an order to go which I enjoyed at home unburnt. It was a little dense and delicious!

Everything here tastes good and we come here at least every 3 months. Food is a little pricey, BUT totally worth it! We usually have shrimp and grits and for whatever reason this time it was a little cold, but we didn’t want to make a fuss about it because it still tastes so good. We also tried the seared ahi tuna with a sauce that paired so great! Customer service is always so great as well and very attentive! We can’t wait to come back.

Mudbugs in Buda Texas ….food was excellent. Waitress was excellent. The manager was excellent. The building’s really cool. It’s got a good vibe. I had the Catfish Atchafalaya, my buddy had fish and chips. We each had a dessert all of it was really good. I gave it a 4 out of 5 not for anything about the restaurant, but at the same time, parking’s quite a ways away. If you’re handicapped, that’s not their fault either, but it’s hard to get to for some of us. And the food was either a little pricey or the servings weren’t all that big. You can make your own choice on it. But everything else was great. I really wanted to give a four point seven or something. But I just could not give a five..

Started with the N.O.B.S. (New Orleans BBQ Shrimp) appetizer. It was flavorful, but a bit too salty for my taste. At $18, I personally don’t think it was worth the price. Not bad —just not something I’d order again.

Ordered the Coping Mechanism cocktail and it was really good… I ordered a second. Smooth, well-balanced, and strong without being overpowering.

For my entrée, I tried their Daily Dozen special Cajun surf and turf blackened shrimp pasta (they only make 12 of these a day, which I thought was a cool concept). This was surprisingly the star of the night.

It came with a steak that was originally prepared medium rare, but I don’t do medium rare. They were accommodating, cooked it more to medium well, and even sliced it up so it could finish cooking to my liking. I appreciated that extra effort.

The pasta itself was really good. I can’t fully describe the sauce but it had depth and flavor without being heavy. The blackened shrimp had this slightly charred, almost BBQ-style flavor that worked really well with the dish.

Service was great. My server was friendly and attentive. I mentioned it was my birthday and that I’d already been drinking since the day before (lol), and she surprised me with a crème brûlée even after I said I was too full to eat anything else. That was a really thoughtful touch.

Highly recommend MudBugs! The N.O.B.S (New Orleans–style BBQ shrimp) were absolutely amazing, rich, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. If you pick any app that dish is a must! The crab cakes were just as delicious. Our server Montana was fantastic and made great drink recommendations that paired perfectly with the food. If you’re looking for great food and amazing drinks, MudBugs is the place to go!

This was my mom’s and I’s first time visiting Mudbugs, a Cajun Joint, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing.

When we arrived, there were several large parties dining at the same time (a group of 30, another of 20, and one with 10+ people), which resulted in a long wait for both our appetizer and our main dishes. While we completely understand that large groups take time to prepare for and that kitchen delays can happen, the extended wait naturally sets an expectation that food will be handled carefully.

My mom ordered the Chicken and Waffles, and when she cut into the waffle, she immediately noticed a dark hair baked directly into it. We flagged down one of the waitresses right away, who agreed that this was absolutely not okay. Shortly after, our waitress came over, and we showed her the issue.

Both waitresses were very kind, professional, and accommodating throughout the situation. They offered to remake the entire plate, but by that point, the experience had already lost its wind, so we asked for boxes to take the remainder of our food home instead. My mom’s meal was comped, which we appreciated.

I want to be very clear that this was not the fault of our waitress or the floor staff; they handled everything appropriately and with care. The issue was clearly with the kitchen. Still, for a first-time visit, waiting an extended amount of time only to find hair baked into a dish is extremely off-putting and hard to overlook.

Overall, this wasn’t the experience we had hoped for, and after everything, we’re not sure we will be returning.

I had a fantastic experience at Mud Bugs. The food was absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want when you’re craving great Cajun seafood. Every bite was spot on.

The ambiance was just as good as the food. It has a relaxed, welcoming vibe that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy yourself. It’s the kind of place where you can sit back, eat well, and lose track of time in the best way.

The staff was friendly and attentive, and everything about the experience felt smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. I’ll definitely be coming back. If you’re in Buda and looking for great food and a fun atmosphere, this place is absolutely worth the visit.

This place is a little hard to find since it’s in the plaza but look for the glass structure with the New Orleans symbol on the outside. The restaurant is beautiful! It’s warm, cozy, and sophisticated. I was craving some cajun pasta and found this place. The staff are welcoming and very friendly. Everything is good from the food to the drinks. They do have a happy hour so if you are thinking about stopping by DO IT! The owner (chef owned) is so sweet, ask him about the photos on the walls! He has so many amazing stories. When I visit Austin again this place will be a staple for me! The drinks are good too! The bartender was amazing offering recommendations.

Went here for happy hour. The happy hour prices are good not great. $3 off select appetizers and drinks.

The Calamari was exceptionsl. Large portion and very tender. The Fried Green tomatoes were good but I found a red one that slipped in. They were topped with chilled shrimp doused with a remoulade sauce.

The gumbo was more watery than I like and had much more celery, onions, and bell peppers than seafood. The crawfish were the tiniest I have ever seen and very sparingly added.

One friend ordered the meatloaf ( in a Cajun seafood restaurant)? It actually was pretty good. Served with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans.

The server seemed to have had too much coffee or something. The ambiance is warm and inviting.

$138 for 3 people at happy hour. The happy hour menu online Aug 2025 is inaccurate. The items and prices do not exist.
