Be prepared for tons of onions and no protein. We ordered over $100 of take out and probably had 2 ounces of meat in it. Mongolian chicken was Mongolian onions for $25! Perhaps be more generous with the protein especially if the dishes are $25 per piece?

Always thankful to have a year round local restaurant and MAU Asian Cuisine is the current one in a location that has served very good Thai food to our community and our guests for decades. I enjoy the lunch portions and always get takeout since the start of the isolation economy in 2020. The equality is very good and consistent, the service is also very good and consistent. Note that the online orders were not being accepted and after I used it to make my selections, I called my order in using the information I entered, so the process went very smoothly.

If you want Chinese food then make the trip into traverse city for a better experience. I ordered 2 entrees and 2 sides and my total was $62. Overpriced as hell!! The worse thing is that after eating my food for dinner I woke up with an extremely sick stomach and diarrhea. DON’T EAT HERE!

This place does forced tip 20% plus credit card fee plus not included rice 5 dollars extra bubble tea was very chewy ,rice was under cooked. I’m amazed the reviews are allowed to attack other reviews but when you have something to hide you bring in friends and family to defend what you alread know is wrong. On the plus side the portion size was big on the negative all protein had to be added.so prepare to be nickel and dimed in dollars. Over all its a average place that over charges. If you still want to go get the curry noodles and dumpling that’s 18.00 plus 8.00 plus 3.00 for chicken (protein) plus tax credit card fee plus forced gratuity 20 %

This place is ok if you are craving some “Nu Asian” while you are up north surrounded by fish and chips and generic hamburgers. The menu has typical Chinese/Thai fare. The prices are somewhat high (but not crazy for a tourist town like this). The quality of the food was varied; some of the items were fresh and delicious, but we agree with other reviewers that some of the portions were small (lacking much meat and small overall, even for lunch) and a bit stale. When we got our bill, like many others we noticed there was an automated 20% gratuity for our table of 2 with a $60 lunch tab. My guess is they regularly had a mix of bad tippers AND people who chose not to tip well because it was lower quality, high cost, AND some of the other issues we experienced.
Forcing gratuity is a bold act on its own, and we would have probably tipped 20% without hesitation just on the back of the gal being nice, but there were certainly many factors that might have made that scale lower. The sign said “seat yourself” and as we approached the window bench to enjoy lunch while looking over main street, the hostess called to us and insisted we sit at the wobbly two-top in the middle of the empty dining room. There was an 18 month old infant (the hostesses daughter?) roaming the restaurant freely the entire time; her 12 year old sister was the “bus girl/babysitter” but was pretty distracted from either job (and was putting fresh wrapped silverware on benches while she wiped tables and tried to keep the baby away); and they were out of most of their beverage options and the water glasses were pretty blurred and tasting fishy. It wasn’t enough to get upset about at the time, but being forced to tip 20% on that was WILD. Get rid of mandatory gratuity if you ever want us to try this again.

The hardest thing to swallow was the price. I hate to lead – or even include in a review – yet more than $36 for pad Thai (1 order) and an order of spring rolls warrants acknowledging.
Living in the area, I’m fully aware of the increase in prices to eat out; however, these rates are still very attention grabbing. While I’ve always really liked this little place (and owners new and old), and have been patronizing for several years, the rates this year just were stunning, causing me to put the brakes on my patronage. More on principle than ability to fund a meal.
While what I paid feels exorbitant, in fairness it was very good. Additionally, I was impressed with both the size of the shrimp used by the restaurant, and that there were upwards of 8-10 in my meal. While kindness and friendliness always accompanies service, I just felt hard pressed to give any more in the form of tip for my carry out. And I hate that. Ugh. If only the increase in rates were a bit more comparable to other local eateries. I’ll continue to get meals as the food and service is very good, just not at the same rate as in years past. Ha! This is the second time in a row that my food has tasted really old and had a bad flavor. I ordered sweet-and-sour chicken with white rice and two egg rolls. They tasted so old and bad I had to throw them away. For as expensive as it is, it should be outstanding. It’s way overpriced for the taste of the food. The atmosphere is nice and the lady at the counter was very sweet but I won’t be returning.
I read the reviews about the 20% tipping and someone mentioned if we aren’t tipping that anyways we are the ones in the wrong but this shouldn’t be a forced tip. We tip according to the food and service. I don’t want to be forced to pay anyone what I may not feel they deserve.

This place is very deceptive by adding tip to EVERY dine in order. The sign at the door says 20% tip added to all dine in and take out orders over $100. Our bill was around $40 before tip and we left spending over $60. My sister and I dined here recently for the first time(and LAST), had water out of their gross plastic cups and each had an entree of mediocre at best Asian food. I’m willing to bet most locals are less than impressed by this place with gross food and deceptive business practices. Suttons bay is better than this. Tourists…spend your money elsewhere…way too many amazing restaurants in the area. This isn’t one! Locals…let’s strive for better quality in our community, don’t support this place.

The spicy Szechuan Chicken looked good but upon first bite tasted awful. Owner would not take off the bill. A baby was in the kitchen picking her nose. They charged wrong price for our meals and when I asked to see the break down she realized I caught her and redid the calculation. Beware!

Went there yesterday with a friend. Crab wonton was great but other meals were not great. No flavor or weird. Server highly recommended gang something and it was not good. When I told the other server I didn’t like it she said that she can’t eat a lot of the food there. I loved the spa water. Did NOT appreciate the automatic 20% gratuity with the line for extra tip. Also charged $2.19 for using my credit card. I will not be back and would tell people not to go.
