Mt. Washington Tavern sits in one of Baltimore’s cutest pockets, and it was the perfect place to break a 40-hour fast. I started light with a Maryland crab soup that hit every note—rich, comforting, and exactly the kind of bowl you’re grateful for after two days without food. A gin soda followed, then a Chipotle-Lime Chicken rice bowl that had me quietly giving thanks for the simple blessing of eating again.

My friend ordered the short rib grilled cheese, and although I was dying for a bite, I stayed committed to easing back into food (she swears it was fantastic). Our server was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience easy.

One suggestion: the Happy Hour seating rule is… unnecessary. We were first sat in the back room, only to be told Happy Hour didn’t apply there, and had to walk back to the front to switch tables. A small inconvenience, but a silly one. That said, my friend loved her Happy Hour margarita, so the drinks themselves get a pass.

Overall, great food, great service, and a place worth revisiting— just sort out that seating quirk. Thank you!

I had an outstanding experience at Mt. Washington Tavern thanks to our waiter, Patrick. From the moment we were seated, he set the tone with his warm personality, professionalism, and genuine attentiveness. Patrick strikes the perfect balance, he checks in just enough to make sure you’re taken care of without ever feeling intrusive.

What stood out most was his knowledge of the menu and his thoughtful recommendations. Every suggestion he made was spot-on, and his enthusiasm made the dining experience even more enjoyable. He kept our drinks filled, made sure our food came out perfectly, and anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask.

It’s clear that Patrick takes pride in his work and truly cares about providing excellent service. He made our visit memorable, and because of him, we’ll definitely be returning. If you’re dining at Mt. Washington Tavern, do yourself a favor and ask for Patrick—you won’t be disappointed!

The atmosphere is open and relaxed. It does have a slight upscale vibe, so dress nicely. Food was phenomenal. I’m in love with their Crab Deviled Eggs. Can’t wait to go bac!

Must visit! Best place in town! The Mt. Washington Tavern has an amazing atmosphere, delicious food, crafty cocktails, and superb staff. Sunday brunch is exceptional, and Cathy & Jason are so attentive and welcoming, along with all the staff and management. We continue to return because of them and the positive vibes. This place goes above and beyond. The second floor bar and outside terrace is phenomenal, especially with the cool fall football weather. Come out and support this local tavern!

The place is absolutely beautiful and the service was pretty good too. However, the food was very, very bland. The drinks was good just way too much ice. Now when it came to dessert you seemed to be out of everything our party wanted. I had to order dessert 3 different times for them to finally have a dessert.

5/26/25 –

Another disappointing dining experience. I now remember why I stopped coming here 13 years ago. Yup, 13 years ago.

The restaurant itself is still fun and inviting with cheery staff.

Our waiter started off great. He informed us that Happy Hour was about to begin. He offered us menus, and drinks were ordered.

Long Island Iced Tea – made properly

Truffle Fries were dark, hard, cold, and seemed like they had been sitting for quite some time. The seasoning of the fries were straight on point.

Tavern Burger – Flavorless. It was ordered medium rare but was served medium well, which is perfect for me but not the person who ordered it. The sliced pickles were tasty.

Regular Shoe String Fries – These fries were so much better than the old Truffle Fries received previously, albeit not good. They would have been great if they weren’t fried too hard.

Tavern Burger with Fries were thankfully 1/2 off

Korean Short Rib – bland and desirable aspects with Mashed Potatoes that didn’t taste freshly made with String Beans that were seasoned perfectly, but didn’t match the meal, in my opinion.

Keynote – I asked to replace the string beans with spinach, but was told that I would have to actually pay for a side of spinach because this restaurant will not swap out vegetables. I remember this quirk from 13 years ago.

The most upsetting issue with this dining experience was that everything that was served was luke warm to simply cold. Our waiter had the audacity to serve the Short Ribs in a cast iron skillet on top of a plate that was cold. How can a waiter not even check to see if serving dishes, especially cast iron, is warm to the touch. I didn’t even want to leave a tip because this definitely offended me as someone who has worked as a waitress. We all know that fries look at a certain way once finished. Waitstaff should definitely know the timing for appetizers.

I included pictures of the dining area, which was empty. We arrived at 3:45pm. We we entered there was a table of 3 who were finished their meals and another table of 4 who were finishing their meals. There is no logical reason why our meals were all cold because the restaurant was empty.

Haven’t been to the Tavern in a while and I’m very happy I stopped back for dinner. My lady and I decided to stop in and grab a quick bite. I ordered the crispy chicken thigh sandwich and damn it was tasty. Backed it up with some sweet potato waffle fries, and to wet the whistle…I ordered the blueberry mojito. What made the dinner even better was our waitress…Teaira was fantastic. She was upbeat, genuinely friendly, and pleasant. She offered her favorite ideas and was on top of checking back with us. We enjoyed dinner and the atmosphere so much, that we called friends who lived close by and they came for drinks.
Definitely give this place a look and ask for Teaira

The food was on point and the ambience great. Very good seafood options. I sat on the terrace overlooking the street. Waite staff could’ve been a tad bit more attentive. They were very friendly nonetheless. I will definitely revisit.
