Originally founded in New York City in 1979, Mrs. Smokeys expanded to Florida in 1986 and has been a local favorite ever since. The BBQ sauce, amazing. I wanted to enjoy the meal, but the baked beans wear so spicy it instantly made me sick and i couldn’t taste the ribs or chicken after that. After 20 minutes I tried again and all the meat was delicious, cooked nicely and I like the rub on the meat.
My son loved the baby back ribs, Mac & cheese.
Unfortunately, I don’t think I can go back, I personally can’t do bbq without baked beans and those beans were hotter than I can personally handle. I typically put Cholula and Sriracha hot sauce on everything, I do like some spice… when they say “the beans are spicy is that ok?”… they ain’t lying, it’s beyond spicy, i would say it’s Thai hot level 3. If that’s your jam, try their baked beens.

Amazing little place! Food wasnt what i expected, but it was good! I ventured out and got something I typically dont eat, so that part is on me. Service was exceptional . Inside the dining room is awesome, and they even have iu4door seating. Definitely recommend paying them a visit.

We are in town for the weekend and wanted some good bbq. Looked up on google and it was a 4.6 so should be really good. Unfortunately it was disappointing. Got the Cowboy platter or something like that. It has 3 meats. We got chicken “white” brisket and it is chopped unfortunately and ribs. White meat was dry no flavor once you get past the dust they put on everything meat. Ribs were dry super thin not very much meat on them and the brisket was average. We had Mac and cheese “box” it was room temp and tater tots and those were decent because we asked for fresh tots. Maybe this was an off day everyone has them but that’s a tough day when all the meats strike out. Staff was friendly. Took quite a long time to get the food not sure why. Wasn’t busy at all. Atmosphere was super cool. They have something here for sure but they have to step up there game on the meat.

It was my friend’s birthday and we wanted to experience something new. We came to Mrs. Smokeys and we’re very pleased we chose it. We were greeted as we came in and the gentleman that greeted us was very helpful. He suggested the Cornbread Brisket Lasagna and we both decided to try it and it was delicious. The owner came to our table and wished my friend Happy Birthday as well as offer a dessert treat to celebrate. The atmosphere was enjoyable. There were cute sayings on the walls. We had a great time. I would definitely recommend it if you love Barbecue and great service.

My friend and I stopped in for lunch on our road trip home. We Google BBQ in south Fl and came across Mrs. Smokeys. I ordered the Cornbread Lasagna. It’s under the started menu. I chose that as my meal. It was enough to feed 2 or three adults. I couldn’t finish it. However each bite was nicely flavored. If we had a Mrs Smokey in Jax, we would visit again.

There are your cookie cutter BBQ restaurants out there, and south Florida is littered with them, from chains, to all sorts of gimmicks, to bbq places who take no pride anymore in their cooking and food …. Let’s make one thing clear, Mrs. Smokey’s is NOT one of these places.
The restaurant itself is beautiful, warm and inviting, simple down home ambiance, very comfortable, as soon as you walk in you feel welcome.
The food was excellent, the baby back ribs I had were perfectly smoked and extremely tender, the mild sauce was just right and not at all overwhelming the smokey taste of the meat itself, great balance of flavors, nothing at all over done, just GOOD bbq. The sides I ordered were simple, just tots (crispy) and Mac n cheese, my classic favorites, zero complaints as well.
Now on to the staff and service. Fantastic attitude and service all around. I absolutely cannot find a single bad thing or complaint to say about this place. Mrs. Smokey herself and her family still work here at this establishment, SUCH a pleasant person, pleasant smile and genuine attitude towards not just me but every single customer that came in today. What a great experience. She came over to my table to ask for my feedback on the food and we spoke a few times throughout my visit, you can tell she has such a passion for what she does, from back when she started in 1979 all the way until today, she is someone who takes pride and passion in not just the quality of her food but her service, and the way she values her customers, every restaurant should take notes on how she runs her restaurant. She is an absolute joy to deal with!
