Enjoyed dinner at the bar before the trolley ride. The interior was nice with carved chairs & lots of color. My wine for $7 was good & my husband had the happy hour tequila pour. The salsa provided with the chips was extremely bland so we asked for some spicy salsa & they brought it out & we mixed it with th other salsa & it was much better! We shared the corn ribs to start – they were excellent! The other app my husband got was raw oysters – they were enormous & NOT fresh & we sent the uneaten one’s back & told the bartender to let the kitchen know that they were old. My shrimp dinner was very good & I like how the shrimp were butterflied. My husband got chicken enchiladas & while the chicken was moist, he did not care for the seasoning. He eats enchiladas all the time & they normally do not have a strong seasoning inside.

Very over the top kitschy decore. Service was very good. Food came out fast and hot. Authentic is pushing it though. The salsa and food isn’t spicy like the locals probably like. I guess they do a good job of riding the line of mexican food and white people food. Definitely white people mexican food.

One of the best places in Sarasota for authentic Mexican food. A little pricey but a lot cheaper and the food and service is way better than the Mexican restaurant across the street.

It was quiet. Not too many people right before dinner. Waitress was very polite. Our food was good but it some things were a miss today. Mainly the meat. Will try another tequilas and ck it out one day in future.

Have enjoyed going here for many years-always great food and a fun atmosphere. Called to order a to-go order, and the girl who answered said they were not accepting to-go orders due to “high service volume this evening”. I’ve never heard a restaurant turn down business, even when really busy. Disappointing!

Edit to my husband calls 20 minutes later and they actually took his order with no problem! We asked to speak to a manager when picking up the food to ask why I couldn’t place an order but my husband could. The manager conveniently was unavailable and “left for a bit” per the hostesses after they disappeared in the back for awhile when asked for the manager. Five people came in and picked up their to-go orders while we were there. Seems fishy…

1. They didn’t serve me a side of veggies with my carne asada. First time ever as I always ask for this and I dump the chip salsa on it. Just a thing a I do. I don’t mind paying for it either these ppl just refused.
2. The Carne asada I ordered was old. It had an old taste and texture like. I ate about 50% of it and then as my hunger dissipated I realized it and just stopped eating it. My stomach feels all gurgling and weird afterwards. I guess they buy cheap stuff because I never feel like this eating steak from Costco home cooked for example- I shouldn’t feel that.
3. The waiter was nice and fast, but he brought out a plate that was extremely hot and put it within reach of my 10 month old son. My wife reached to move it away quickly and burned herself pretty badly. I had nothing but the tin foil and tortillas to use to push it away from my son. He should have waited for us to move things around vs just dropping it off, saying “careful it’s hot” and moving on. Had I not been vigilant that could have been relatively catastrophic for the business. Had my son gotten burned this placed would have a crazy lawsuit on their hands. I know an Asian that shut down because of this exact reason which is why I was really really careful about it.

In summary: the food is low quality, they may be inflexible about food modifications, and staff isn’t trained to avoid burning your kids with their scorching hot plates.

I know you have 1,400+ reviews but lunch hour was not really even an average experience for me.

Fun and lively place. I absolutely loved the enormous vegetable burrito. My friend had a taco salad which wasn’t as good. Service was excellent. Prices were extremely reasonable.

The staff was polite, but the food was so extremely bland. The “cheese dip” (not queso) is made with American cheese. The steak in the quesadilla, and the side of rice tasted like they had absolutely no seasonings on them. The salsa seemed to be missing a few ingredients and the tomatoes in it tasted like they were from a can. I ate my food because I was starving and on a tight schedule. I took the left overs because I figured I could possibly season them at home and not waste the $20.+ dollars I spent. I went yesterday around 3:30 in the afternoon and was the only customer there. Again, the staff was polite, but the food was not quality.
