First off, parking was a breeze. There was plenty of space, which already put us in a good mood because nothing ruins hunger vibes faster than circling a lot. Walking in, the restaurant felt clean, chill, and inviting—not too loud, not too quiet, just the perfect place to sit, unwind, and talk about class while waiting for food.
I ordered the shrimp quesadilla, and let me tell you… it was delicious. The shrimp were cooked perfectly—not rubbery at all—and seasoned really well. The cheese was melted just right, pulling apart with every bite, and the tortilla was golden and slightly crispy without being greasy. Every bite tasted fresh and satisfying, the kind of meal that makes you pause mid-conversation just to appreciate how good it is. Maria loved her food too, so that was another win.
Our server was so sweet, which really stood out. She checked on us enough to make sure we were good without hovering, and her attitude made the whole experience feel warm and genuine. You can tell when someone actually enjoys what they do, and that kind of service really adds to the overall vibe of a restaurant.
Another thing I have to mention—because it matters—is the bathrooms were very clean. Like, noticeably clean. That’s always a big deal to me and says a lot about how a restaurant is run behind the scenes. If they’re taking care of that, you know they’re paying attention to everything else too.
Overall, Mr. Sombrero is the perfect spot for a casual hangout, a quick bite after class, or even a laid-back dinner with friends. Good food, friendly service, clean facilities, and easy parking—what more can you ask for? I’ll definitely be back, and next time I might even try something new… but honestly, that shrimp quesadilla is going to be hard to beat.
Highly recommend if you’re in Alvin and looking for a solid, satisfying meal with good vibes all around.
Bartender was super attentive and even the manager was is attentive.
The Mexican martini is a must try if that is your thing. The skinny Margarita is also good if you get it with an extra shot.
The queso was good. You can either choose from white or yellow. We chose the yellow but we hear the white is better.
Now you know ain’t no place going to survive if they don’t have good chips and salsa. The chips are nice and crunchy they’re hard. So you know if you’re going to dive into some guacamole the chip ain’t going to break in half!
Beef fajitas are good. If you get a chance to try them you most definitely must!
The prices are very fair on just about everything on the menu. The menu. OMG it’s like a book! I had to use Google maps to navigate it LOL
