My husband and I packed a lot of braised food with Northeastern flavors to bring back to the San Francisco Bay Area. I just got home and ate Harbin red sausage and smoked chicken racks. The taste is exactly the same as the ones sold in our hometown of Shenyang. Why are they not available in the Bay Area? The red sausage has a moderate saltiness and a hint of garlic flavor, which is rare. The smoked chicken rack is also not salty and has all the flavors of five spices and smoked flavors. I look forward to the pork head meat I brought back, because pork head meat is not easy to cook and it takes a lot of effort to shave the hair. I heard that the two bosses are from Shenyang. I hope that such a store can continue to operate in Los Angeles for a long time, because the Chinese catering in Los Angeles is really competitive. If this store were to open in the Bay Area, it would kill other stores in minutes.

Their Harbin red sausage and dried sausage are about 80% as good as Qiulin Lidaosi’s. That’s quite an achievement in the US. I’ve basically bought all sorts of brands of these two kinds of cooked food in the US, but they’re mostly just imitations. If you want to buy something more authentic, you’ll have to use Taobao’s consolidated shipping service.

Why are the chickens at this restaurant getting smaller and smaller? My husband especially loves their chicken. Yesterday I bought three, and he bought one for himself. When we got home and put them on a plate, we found they were only about two-thirds the size of their usual size—about the size of a slightly plump pigeon. This isn’t good; we probably won’t be able to eat there as often anymore.

This was my first time here. I asked about the price, but the young lady ignored me. So I asked how much it was per pound, and she just told me how much I wanted. When I asked if she could cut the duck necks into smaller pieces, like at Jue Wei Duck Neck, she didn’t say anything more. Her service was a bit off, but it didn’t affect the fact that their duck necks were delicious.

The pork head meat was $14/lb, and I wanted half a pig’s snout. The server, taking advantage of my ignorance, just brought out an extra chunk of meat and put it together. What?! $30.50 for a pig’s snout? This isn’t proper service! Did they not understand me, or were they deliberately trying to sell more and dump unsold stock on me? I’ve bought from here several times, and this time I’m extremely disappointed.
