Stopped by @Mr. Shawarma in Nicholasville tonight and wow the food was amazing. There is absolutely no reason this place should be empty on a Friday night. Family-owned, incredibly kind people, and the food speaks for itself. My wife and I will 100% be back. Nicholasville, let’s show some love to a local, family-owned spot. Go check them out!

I was hesitant to try something new, because I cannot tolerate spicy food. This was amazing food and not spicy at all!! The hummus is the best I have ever had, and the baklava was fresh and delicious! Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great!! We will definitely be back soon!! Great job on friendly service and excellent food, Mr. Shawarma!!! The Neal Family

The food was delightful. The beef was tender and flavorful, the hummus was like butter, the bread soft and fresh. Servings were more than generous. The owners went above and beyond. Thank you!

This is my favorite restaurant in the area! The food is so tasty and exotic. Everything on the menu is fantastic The hummus is the best I’ve ever had in my life. They say it’s a secret recipe being used currently in Jordan. My favorite is the chicken kabob and shawarma plates. The falafel is my son‘s favorite and is delicious. Their rice is so good and flavorful. The baklava is to die for.
The atmosphere is Very authentic to the food, you can tell a lot of time was put in making this feel like you’re stepping back into the Middle East. The owners of the place couldn’t be any nicer if they tried. They are very generous and humble hardworking family. My kids play and draw with their kids, it’s a very welcoming environment. I love this place!
if you’re in the area and you haven’t tried this out, you are doing yourself a disfavor. Hands down best bang for your buck for great food and environment in Nicholasville.

Amazing! I’ve heard great things about this place but it is better than I’d expected. Drove from Lexington just to try it and I was not disappointed!

I never expected to find a Syrian restaurant of this quality in a place like Nicholasville, KY. While the nearby city of Lexington has a modestly sized but truly exceptional Middle Eastern food scene, locals have told me that Nicholasville has long been consigned to its fate as a somewhat hollowed-out commuter town that can scarcely hold onto a coffee shop or really anything apart from a few long-standing anchor business (an alternative jewelry store that appeals to a niche clientele; the “Euro Bar” that is the hub for the somewhat notorious brand of Kentucky politicking).
Needless to say, I’m overjoyed to see a place like Mr. Shawarma going on a year. Even more so to see every slice of Nicholasville society relishing what appears to be repeat visits to the place. And who wouldn’t? My wife and I tried both versions of the chicken shawarma platter. The one on the left is the “Arabic style” on “saj” bread with pomegranate molasses and delicious garlic sauce, served with a side of fries. The one on the right is the chicken shawarma over saffron rice, sliced straight from the brochette.
The hummus, as others have noted, is exceptional. If you want to know if a Middle Eastern place is good, try their hummus.
The family that runs it is very sweet and generous. They treated us with baklawa, and we ordered Turkish coffees to go with it.
My only mild criticism is that the chicken is ever-so-slightly dry on its own. It is very hard to keep white meat moist while it is cooking on a rotisserie.
This place deserves all the success. This is head-and-shoulders above other restaurants in Nicholasville, and even holds its own against the rich offerings of Lexington. Definitely give it a try.

My husband and I visited Mr. Shawarma for the first time this evening. The service was excellent, friendly and helpful. The wait times were extremely reasonable. I had the chicken shawarma plate and the fried kibbeh eh. Both items were absolutely incredible. When I say I had some of the best food of my life tonight I mean it. I grabbed some baklava on my way out and it was just as delicious. If you’re in the area or even a little bit away this place is WORTH visiting. Extremely satisfied.
