I remember when walking into this place made me all warm and fuzzy inside. WOW, HAS IT CHANGED! IT LOOKS HORRIBLE!!!!! It almost looks like a scotch tape factory blew up inside. And most of the signs are rude with “!” at the end. Awful service, and they obviously don’t even know what they are handing out! There was absolutely no love in the food. I will never go there again! Please look at pics! The potato salad was mashed, the toast was burnt on one side, and apparently this is what collard greens look like! Oh yeah, and they force you to eat outside!

. Omg last week I wanted some soul food greens almost $4 for a small side collard greens.
This week I bought my package of ham Hocks and two bags of greens at the grocery @ 3.99 each – store for $8 and I have a pot full and some leftover the pictures below are “MY” own home cooked Collard & Turnup greens NOT! the Powdrell’s.

If you don’t eat pork substitute with smoked turkey legs or smoked wings from Walmart or just bake or grill your own – You can cook the turkey leg/wing raw in with your greens great flavor.

Ordered a small sandwich and could only eat 1/2, it was huge. The pork bbq was very tasty. We enjoyed our lunch yesterday by the UNM duck pond!

Fantastic food as always. Have had this barbeque for years and its amazing as ever, great service (fast and friendly). Worth the price. No dine in, there is patio seating.

I thought the brisket was a tad under done for my taste, but I’m more used to Texas style and I think Mr Powdrell tends toward Memphis style. It was tender, not fatty. Sauce is sweet. If you’re tooling along Route 66 you should take in the historic eatery, a landmark in Albuquerque.

Good food but a little “roachy”. We had a group of guys come in for lunch and we killed 2 roaches. Lady was like…”Sorry we fumigated in the other room and must of stirred ’em up” and now they were in the room we was in. No discount…no coupon…just roaches. I was worried because they didn’t have hair nets. Seems we needed roach nets.

My mother went to Albuquerque for business and brought me back a little piece of heaven. These are are the best ribs I’ve ever had! I love the cornbread (it’s unique, they make it like pancakes) I also ordered hot link sausages and they’re spicy and perfect. I don’t know what they put in their barbecue sauce but it’s addicting!!! I highly recommend.

Our 1st time here was less than disappointing. Won’t be back with this level of bbq available and no place to sit inside. Is like this at both locations.
Ordered: 1/2 baby back ribs, half chicken, smoked wings, and 1 lb brisket at about 230pm.
The ribs couldn’t even be choked down! Sooo dry and lacked flavor.
The half chicken was a little more moist.
The smoked wings were sad. They fry them after being smoked and are pretty small/dry.
The brisket was touted to be the best but was also dry and lacked flavor. It’s cut so thin and isn’t like normal thick brisket cuts you would expect and looked as if it had been sitting there for hours stewing as it was overcooked.
The bbq sauce was good and helped make the meal somewhat edible.
Our check was just over $50 and not worth the high cost based on the quality.

Amazing BBQ, fried okra and fried mushrooms! The macaroni was on point and the corn bread was fried like pancake giving it a different but awesome taste. I will be back!

Search my reviews herein for the dive in Dallas, Texas. Powdrells is the antithesis of “that” place. Examine the pictures (more to follow).

First, at approximately 4:50pm Powdrells had beef ribs. No excuses were necessary.

Second, I only had to fly an hour and a half further west to garner black eye peas and those huge beef ribs I was yearning for. All is right now.

The ribs were juicy, and the Flintstones Bam-Bam Brontasaurus sized ribs were tasty and flavorful.

No beer to be had. But the beef ribs satisfied my yen.

Concerning the peas, a tad bit salty and a touch more black pepper could be used. Other than that perfect!

In lieu of beer I had a Coke from a machine. The syrup to soda water ratio was perfect. This is the first time I have experienced this. It’s either too sweet or too soda-ish. I will add more photos at such time I cull from the DSLR.
