I ordered the House pho, no spice. It is not like a traditional south Vietnamese pho. It’s got a Thai flavor spin on it, and you don’t get thin sliced rare beef. It’s well-done meat with what I think might be house-made meatballs. Good broth, good flavor. Just don’t judge it as a Vietnamese dish, and you’ll enjoy it.
The herbs, bean sprouts, lime, and peppers on the side of my pho looked incredibly fresh. I eat at every Pho place I can find, and the freshness of the produce really caught my eye. Normally you’re getting a sad bunch of bean sprouts and wilted herbs…but these were NICE. I normally don’t eat much spicy food, but it seemed like a waste to not try one of the delectable looking pepper slices. Painful lesson, but if you don’t like spicy, don’t eat peppers at a restaurant run by Thai people even if the peppers look beautiful and fresh.
Dessert was also a nice savory, slightly sweet coconut dish: Thai duo cups. Highly recommend!
We talked with the owners after the meal. They are Thai and are super nice. The cook is an 80 year old Thai grandma whipping up real food the old fashioned way. They do have standbys like Pad Thai and Pad See Ew which I’m guessing are good. But seriously, if you’re looking for something deliciously authentic and unique, get the OG noodles.
Extra context/taste bud calibration: my wife is Filipino American and grew up in the Bay Area. I am Chinese American and grew up in the LA area. We have both lived in Japan. I have cousins in Arcadia. I lived in SF just off Clement street. I have (somewhat regrettably) eaten Chinese food in India, Spain, and Germany because I can’t live without white rice for long periods of time.

Don’t let the simple menu deceive you. The flavors are subtle, balanced, and deep.
