This pizza spot is a solid 3/5—great for a quick bite but not necessarily a must-visit compared to some of the other options in Little Italy. (They do have a lot of other locations as well, but we went to the Little Italy location because it is close to home for us). They serve New York-style pizza by the slice, and the atmosphere is busy and fun, with friendly staff adding to the experience.
We decided to order a whole pie to take home and walked around Little Italy while we waited, which took about 15-20 minutes. We went with a classic pepperoni and a half pepperoni, mushroom, and hot honey combo—the hot honey sauce was definitely the standout, and I highly recommend adding it!
We also shared a garlic knot stuffed with cheese and jalapeño, which was decent but definitely needed a good amount of dipping sauce to boost the flavor. Overall, it’s a solid spot for quick, thin-crust pizza in the heart of Little Italy—good, but not life-changing.

I had been wanting to visit Mr. Moto Pizza for a while, so I finally stopped by and ordered the 2 slices and a soda combo. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed with the flavor of the pizza, it just didn’t live up to the expectations I had.
That said, the customer service was excellent. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which definitely made the visit more pleasant. I might give it another try in the future, but this first experience didn’t quite hit the mark food-wise.

Advertised as new york style pizza. Several uniques offerings on display so you know what you’re getting. You order by the slice, it gets warmed up and finished off with the toppings depending on which slice you get. Thin but not super thin crusts. Perfectly browned, not charred or blistered. The folding technique didn’t work for some of the slices as the toppings out weighed the crust. However, the topping qualities were superb. Slices fairly large – two were enough for a filling dinner. Fairly quick service but the line can get long at times. No rustic brick oven fired pies but satisfying slices.

I have been going to the Point Loma location on Rosecrans fairly regularly for a couple of years now. The pizza is always delicious with an excellent array of unique options, and the service has always, always been top-notch. In fact, they often go above and beyond, and it’s always a very welcoming atmosphere.
Then, on November 13th, between 1 and 2 p.m., I was hanging with friends at my favorite San Diego cafe next door, Caffe Italia, and decided to give the Little Italy location of Mr Moto a try. I walked in and there were two young women eating at a little table in the corner off to the side, and I began waiting for someone to ask what I would like. Nobody was there behind the counter. I waited, and waited, then tried to move over from the register so I could see into the back room to let whoever might be there know they had a customer. I waited still more, noting the pizza didn’t look as appetizing as the other location’s pies do.
Finally, another customer came in and stood behind me in line. We waited several minutes together. She asked me if I’d already left my order and I said I’ve been waiting for someone to appear from the back room for at least ten minutes. She said, “Well, they’re eating something,” pointing to the two women chatting at the table. She called over to them and asked, “Is there anyone here to help us?” The two women stopped chatting and one said, like they had been rudely interrupted, “We’re on break. We’ll be another 15 minutes.” The other potential customer gave out an exasperated sigh, yelling out, “Well, you should at least put up a sign or something,” and stormed out.
I kind of shrugged my shoulders, shaking my head as I laughed inside about “kids these days” and the “Gen Z stare,” and simply walked out as well, without even bothering to say a damn thing to the two so-called “employees” of the establishment. I have lived in Bulgaria right after the Communists left, but this Mr. Moto was worse customer service than anywhere there. Same when I lived in France and witnessed how the French treat tourists during the busiest season. This was preposterous.
I will never set food in this Little Italy location again for that reason alone. I don’t really trust the quality of the food, either, because while at the Point Loma location they’re always cooking pies that look phenomenal, the pizzas in the case here looked like a cheap imitation and probably sitting there for hours, and I smelled nothing cooking while I waited for FIFTEEN MINUTES without either of the women who apparently worked there even bothering to greet two customers ten feet away from them waiting in front of the register. ZERO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT.
I have only left very positive reviews via Google. Congratulations, “Ladies.” You just received earned my first single-star review.
Luckily for the owners, I will still keep going to the other location. The staff there are to be praised, even when it’s super-busy and even when I’ve rudely arrived just prior to closing for a few slices.

First time visiting. Went on a Friday afternoon around 230pm to order take out. This is a pizza shop on the little Italy strip with some seating inside and outside. I’m not fond of eating on the strip because of the stench in the air in this part of the city as well as the homeless population sitting right outside of the restaurant buildings. This makes my review biased but also reveals my reason behind my 3 stars. We got the art themed pizza and it was decent. The cashier was pleasant and gave us plenty of time to decide on what to order. Overall an okay experience.

On our first night in San Diego’s Little Italy we walked past this one of many pizza shops on India Street and I was drawn in by the look of this giant piece of burratta cheese on top of a huge slice of pizza. We told them we’d be back, and the guy with a personality behind the counter razzed us a bit for telling him we’d be back, “yeah sure, that’s what my dad said too!”. LOL. Well, we came back about 30 minutes later and again two more times before we left town. This is the best NY Style pizza we’ve ever had. They have great combinations of toppings and friendly staff. Highly recommend this place! And they play great 80’s music too. And try the stuffed knots. They are incredible, especially the jalapeno ones.

I’m from out of town looking for something to eat near by my hotel. Came with my son and was not disappointed at all. Our last day was on Sunday so I gave it a shot. Came around 7pm. The service was phenomenal. I do not know if this person was a manager or not but kudos to you FELIX. He showed me and my son a great service. From my drink to my son’s very picky meal. What a gentleman he is. Very knowledgeable of the menu but also the area since it was our first time visiting California. This will not be my last and kinda bummed out that it was our last day here. Will be back. Make sure to request FELIX!!!!

I ordered delivery for my first time trying Mr. Moto’s while house sitting and I loved the Piece of Art pie! As someone who loves pizza but is kind of picky, I enjoyed the right balance of cheese and sauce, as well as the oil level not being excessive. I would’ve loved a thicker crust only because the dough itself was so delicious, I wanted more of it haha. On the side I bought their tiramisu and it did NOT disappoint. Best part was getting to use a $20 off coupon from their website so needless to say, I was very happy I chose them for my dinner.
