Their chili is bad. Real bad. It’s like a black tar
Jelly with no meat or beans. The flavor was unidentified it was so bad. I had to scrape it off. That’s probably where they got it. They scraped it off the floor somewhere.

Classic simple burgers and dogs place. The food is simply delicious and they are not chasing any food trends that come and go. The chili is probably their standout food. The menu is not expansive like other “canteens” to the in the Bridgeport area but they stick what they are good at. The staff is relaxed and feels like a giant family that they invite you into while you are there.

Mr. Mac’s Canteen is one of my favorite spots to go to get a great simple meal. They have something for everyone. My go-to every time is the chili dogs they are best. But watch out that chili has a kick it’s spicy but had amazing flavor. Also, there are milkshakes that are great. Try cherry banana, my sons favorite.
