Not sure what happened here today. I have been coming to this bar regularly for about a year and usually walk over. Today it was 39 degrees, so I took an Uber.
I got in without issue, found an open spot at the bar, and stood there for maybe two minutes. I had not ordered a drink yet or interacted with anyone other than saying hello to the bouncer and the person next to me. Then a different bouncer came up and told me I had to leave, claiming the bartender asked for it.
When I asked if there was a misunderstanding or if something specific had happened, I was not given an explanation and was just told I had to go. I asked the door staff if they could help clarify what was going on so I could understand, and they told me to come back tomorrow.
The bar was not full, and there was no negative interaction that I am aware of. If it were a capacity issue, I would completely understand. I have been turned away for that before and it made sense. This situation just felt awkward and confusing and left me with a bad impression.
Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be coming back.

I love coming to Mr. Luckys for their delicious food, good drinks, and great atmosphere. The bartenders are so nice and the chef is always on point. My favorite is the Caesar salad with prawns!

“Mr. Lucky’s – the oldest dive bar in Walnut Creek – keeps it real in a city full of polished spots. Good food, solid drinks, and friendly bartenders make it a great hangout. Bonus points for the cool women’s restroom. If you’re looking for a spot with some real character, this is it!”

My friends and I went in for a drink and went to a bar. Saw a phone with no owner at the table and my friend asked a man if it was his. He was offended that his android was touched to see if it was his. The man was threatening us and then after got the bartenders to get aggressive for no reason, clear that he is a regular who thought he had too much power. Bouncer was nice and apologized. No reason to go…

This place was the single redeeming thing in the area. I got stuck in this commercial cesspool for four and a half hours and wandered around for 3 of them trying to find decent food worth the price or some store that wasn’t marked up for garbage. No dice. Finally found this place tucked away, so thankful. Had a couple drinks and chatted with old locals. Definitely support this place. In general I’ll be avoiding the area but if I ever find myself there again I’ll definitely go in for a drink and to get a brake from the depressing retail area outside.

Really friendly service. The food was good, pricier than what I’d read in other reviews, not too expensive but not a bargain either. My burger was the yeti and it cost $10.50. I didn’t care for it but it wasn’t bad it just wasn’t a taste I liked. The wife got sliders, she really liked hers. We will be back so, since I’m a cheap, bargain hunting, SOB that should tell you something.

A fun little bar and restaurant. The atmosphere is a comfortable and pub-like. The menu has many options but is mostly traditional American foods. The food is above average quality but nothing to write home about generally. There is very quaint outdoor seating. Mr. Lucky’s is a very nice place to go for large groups but if its a weekend you should make a reservation.
