Reviews
The food itself was spot on—absolutely delightful! The atmosphere is stunning and well thought-out. But the service… that’s where things fell apart. The communication was discombobulated. At one point, we had to walk to the kitchen just to get tea service, and there were several moments where we were left scratching our heads, missing items and in the end we just gave up asking. We’re a patient, easy-going group, and if you look at my reviews, I’m usually quite generous with stars. It just didn’t feel right in this case.
That said, I truly believe every restaurant can have an off day, and this may have been one of them. The potential is there, and with the food and ambiance this good, I’d encourage you to try it out and see for yourself.
We always do the omakase, and it is incredible every time. Hosea’s knowledge, kindness, and attention to detail elevate an already amazing experience into something truly special. He explains each course with such passion and expertise, making you appreciate every bite even more.
The food itself is phenomenal — we absolutely love it — and Mr. Kim’s is hands down our go-to place when we want to treat guests to something unique and memorable. Hosea is a true gem of Mr. Kim’s, and his service is a huge reason we keep coming back.
This place is a Tulsa staple and an absolute must-try when you’re here. We couldn’t recommend it more.
Got the chef special Wagu beef tri tip on rice. Was served with spiced peanuts Kim chi ( fresh and the beat I ever had) and spicy cucumber slices. And the best whisky sour Ive had in Tulsa.whike I question the Wagu because not as tender as i had in a Michalin stared restraunt it was excellent. I hate to mention that a few grain of the rice wasn’t done enough because it was so perfectly seasoned and I have never liked Kimchi while this has changed my mind forever as It was not sour luke I have had before. The cucumbers were new to me and a Delightful surprise of cool chilled cucumber with spicy hot after feel i could have been delighted with just that, atmosphere muted lighting, very Romatic, music may need to rething as some do not want the F word while enjoying a felaxing meal but what to do most lists include some hip hop nowdays. Complimentary orange cream sherbert made me close my eyes and enjoy a relaxing moment after a great meal.
The drink selection is great, with a variety of options including Korean soju and makgeolli. When you order meat, banchan (side dishes) are included, but they don’t quite feel authentically Korean. Instead, they borrow flavors from different parts of Asia. Overall, the food seems to lack sugar or sweetness, so some of the depth of flavor is missing. For example, the cucumber side dish tasted more like a Chinese-style preparation than the Korean version.
We ordered brisket, but it wasn’t the Korean-style “chadolbagi” (thin, fatty brisket). Instead, it was a very lean cut with almost no fat. The galbi (short ribs) were better, but still, when I think of Korean BBQ, I expect melt-in-your-mouth meat. Here, it just didn’t deliver that. However, kimchi fried rice was good. Also, server was helpful, a bit slow.
In the end, I’d say this is more of a fusion restaurant than a true Korean BBQ experience.
