07/03/2020-Ordered Hibachi Fried Rice Shrimp (Fried rice, onion and awful pre-frozen boiled no taste shrimp), Double Dragon Roll (yummy), and Eel Roll (Yummy), a Beef Teriyaki (Fried Rice+Beef with Sauce), Seaweed Salad (seaweed with cucumbers=too watery like it was frozen and just thawed out), Spring Rolls (5 piece, very thin, not much flavor, But crispy)…The only thing I liked was the sushi, everything else was either disappointing or just bad…Also, it should be noted that they only have a Facebook page, no actual website, and on their Facebook page they have their menu posted about a million times, BUT none of it all together, so there are pictures here and pictures there, and none match up to make a whole menu. Many of the menu photos aren’t clear and you can’t actually read the item names and descriptions.

LAST BUT MOST IMPORTANT= Yes, their menu states that Prices are subject to change, which is understandable; HOWEVER, If You are standing in their restaurant then their MENU PRICE, SHOULD BE what You get charged. NOT SO HERE!! I checked the receipt versus the prices on the menu and all but one or two were OFF/DIFFERENT PRICES that ranged from $1-2USD to $0.45-$0.75 difference per item when compared. Which all things considered ends up changing Your total price by several dollars, which to me, is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!! I mean, I get it and understand if You are ordering off an OLD Menu or Menu posted ONLINE, but that SHOULD NOT be the case when You are standing in their restaurant reading off their actual physical MENU!! That is false advertising! Regardless of whatever B.S. price disclaimer they post on their menus!..so, AVOID their menu, unless You want to eat Sushi..AND even then, UNDERSTAND that What You Get Charged is apparently TOTALLY ARBITRARY!! & Likely NOT WHAT YOU expect the cost will be (NOTE:The Sushi was pretty much the only items listed that mostly matched up with the prices seen and then charged)…

This is just my own opinion, go to Asian Fusion down the road in Ponchatoula, as they have great sushi too AND many more other entrees on their menu when compared to Joe’s. PLUS, their prices don’t seem to change from what is shown on their menu and You ordering standing in their restaurant to when You get charged and pay for Your food!…I usually go to Asian Fusion, but (stupid me) decided to trying somewhere different, just because I had heard of Joe’s from other people, and they had given Joe’s good reviews..*shrugs*

See the Photos uploaded (it looks good, but imho they failed in actual execution, taste, and prices charged.).. Also, the person waiting/ordering on-site, stated that the woman taking the order was a bit gruff & sort of rude, so take that for what it’s worth.

09/01/2020 – UPDATE = Corrected spelling/grammar issues, and uploaded photos.

Better than mediocre but left some things to be desired. Other sushi restaurants give me a whole range of flavors in each bite. Whereas this was not the best I have tried, the price was reasonable and matched the quality.

This is my favorite plave for sushi. I get the Philadelphia roll each time and the shrimp tempura appetizer and not only does it satisy my taste buds but, it fills me up!
It’s not a place you can “dine in” but, you’re welcome to dine on the patio, which is a nice and peaceful setting. ☺️ no complaints here. Always happy.

Easy ordering during quarantine from a take out menu. Food came out swiftly and perfectly though only one person was working. Everything was very inexpensive for how wonderful and fresh the options were. We had 3 sushi rolls (all wonderful, the yellowtail and the salmon were BEAUTIFUL) and the hibachi friend rice special. They also were able to offer us hot sake in to go cups. I definitely see why this place has so many great reviews! We will be back soon!!!

Awesome food!!! I eat sushi all the time back home & this place is definitely yummy. Okay service. Just funny presentation.. everything was served in to-go boxes, but most of the pics under reviews were on plates so it was just a bit surprising! Again, food was delicious.
Minor complaint about the place itself— there were some baby ants on the wall next to our table, and my boyfriend said the men’s bathroom had mold in the corner & on the toilet brush. Women’s was fine, but men’s room definitely needed cleaned.
Would’ve rated higher if presentation & cleaning/maintenance was there.

After coming here, I feel as if I’ve NEVER had fresh sushi. These guys are the real deal! Very nice people there, and absolutely the quickest service I’ve experienced. We got into the restaurant, ordered, ate, and left all a bit under 30 minutes.I wish I could post some photos. Their portions are huge and they’re fairly inexpensive. My ‘make it or break it’ for a sushi restaurant is always a snow crab salad, theirs is SO GOOD! Better than Tsunami, Geisha, AND Nagoya. This is my new favorite sushi place. I’m very excited to plan a trip back!

We have been eating here, dine in and take out for 5 years. I have never been disappointed!! Always fresh, always delicious. We order the same 5 rolls and enjoy every last one of them everytime. The covid has kind of hindered them a bit on time open and availability. But they are definitely worth the wait.

Sushi is decent – teriyaki chicken is more savory than sweet though. The rice is generally cooked fairly well. Sushi itself has an odd taste at times that seems like it is on purpose due to the consistency through multiple orders, but isn’t the best tasting I’ve had. Cate Street has sushi that I am used to with excellent freshness and taste. I would say if you like more savory dishes in traditionally sweet dishes than the majority of sushi restaurants that I’ve eaten at then this place is fantastic. But if you like the taste at most very good sushi restaurants with lower prices, try it once here to see if it is a taste you like but be aware it probably isn’t your imagination that the food tastes odd in comparison.

My favorite sushi place so far, with the best crunchy rolls I’ve ever had. The tempura veggies are also really good, if you’re looking for a vegetarian option. Everything is really well priced, definitely a good place to start if you’ve never had sushi and don’t want to break the bank on your first visit to a sushi restaurant.

The atmosphere was nice, the sushi was fresh and the sweet and sour chicken my boyfriend had was made with fresh chicken and was some of the best I’ve ever tasted. They did, however, serve duck sauce with their rice chips instead of the usual sweet and sour, which I was not a fan of. They also didn’t have as varied of a selection of sushi as I’d have liked. All over a good place though.
