Social Profile:

Mr. Henry’s has been a mainstay of the wonderful Capitol Hill neighborhood since 1966. For nearly sixty years we have proudly served and employed a wonderfully diverse group of people. Everyone is welcome! We serve American pub fare for lunch and dinner daily and brunch on the weekends. We offer daily specials, have a large patio dining area that is dog friendly, and feature live jazz and events upstairs most nights. We are a place where book clubs meet, friends gather, and a new person is not a stranger for long.

Corner pub with a gay-friendly vibe that serves burgers & craft beers amid Victorian-style decor.

This place is the perfect spot to unwind after a long day of exploring Washington, D.C. We ordered two cheeseburgers with tater tots, and everything was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere is charming and nostalgic, with its vintage decor. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, so you can choose the ambiance that suits your mood. Our waiter was incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive, making our dining experience truly enjoyable.

A true gem of Capitol Hill. Mr. Henry’s is such an iconic place in DC history. And on top of that, it’s got great burgers. We come here pretty often and love the patio. A tad on the pricey side for the food you get, but the vibe totally makes up for it.

I was refused service because I had my service dog with me. I informed staff that the dog is a trained service animal, but they said “no dogs allowed” and demanded to see paperwork.

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, businesses are not allowed to require certification or papers for a service dog. They are only allowed to ask two questions about the task the dog performs.

Instead of following ADA guidelines, I was turned away entirely. This was disappointing and discriminatory.

I hope the restaurant educates their staff on service animal laws so this doesn’t happen to someone else.

C’mon! Real people eating real food made in a straight-forward way at good or better prices. Very good happy hour until 7, in addition to daily and some monthly specials. My first visit was in 2005. “Authentic” means tonight 2/5/26, it’s the same tables, the same good food, and only slightly more expensive. 100% worth a visit!

We stopped in here for a quick bite before a book signing at the bookstore down the road. Staff was very friendly especially our waitress. They didn’t have sweet tea but she made an awesome Arnold Palmer to satisfy my craving! She gave great recommendations and checked on us often. The atmosphere was very welcoming and upbeat. Loved the different style of decorations.

Great selection of hot cocktails! We were looking for a quick bite and could tell from the outside this was a good place for us to get one… loved the casual cozy atmosphere, family friendly, if we lived nearby this would be a place we’d frequent all the time. Our server, Naveeta was fantastic, highly recommend.

As my first dining experience here, it was exceptional. We were lucky enough to come out on a Thursday and loved their nightly options, besides the entrees, Thursday is London Broil night. Every detail was taken care of, with sour cream for the baked potatoes and butter for the dinner roll, including a gravy to dip and savor with.

Every server was there to please and loved that ours came by to check on us in case we needed anything else further into the meal.

The decor takes you away to a cozy supper club atmosphere, and was so happy to learn that live music has returned.

If you are looking for intimate dining with friends or loved ones, delicious and plentiful food options, Mr. Henry’s is the place to be.

Our host in Washington recommended this place, so we decided to check it out. The atmosphere is awesome, feels like an old pub. The food was ok, our hamburgers tasted ok…but you could tell it was a frozen patty. Our server was lacking, we clearly could see him chitchatting with a patron and clearly neglecting customers. He didn’t even get our order correct because he was busy with that guy… In his phone etc. Finally I just got up to pay the tab and leave. The art and deco in this place is awesome with very unique items. Very LGBTQ friendly.

We came form SC and happened upon this gem while in DC. The food was delicious. Atmosphere super cozy. The wait staff was top notch. Friendly, knew their stuff and even suggested some places around town. All the staff have been there 10+ years which says volume about the way a restaurant treats their employees. If you’re in the area definitely come check it out. I suggest the chicken buffalo dip or burgers. Delicious!
