We were visiting from New York, so we came in with fairly high expectations. We appreciated how quickly we were seated and how fast the food came out. However, the food itself didn’t quite live up to our expectations.
It was also clear that the restaurant was short-staffed—not necessarily their fault—but it did affect the overall experience. A few things were missed during our visit, and there seemed to be a lack of attentiveness or genuine care in the service, likely due to the staffing situation.

This is, without exaggeration, the best Mexican restaurant at whcih I’ve ever eaten. My family (wife, 2 teenage kids) and I spent a week in Shenandoah this winter on a small vacation, and while the mountains are lovely with lots to do outdoors, the dining options in the area were limited, to put it mildly.
Late in the week, we found Mr. Garcia’s, and had not only the best meal of our trip, but sincerely one of the best Tex-Mex meals any of us could remember. The space was warm and comfortable, the staff was super quick and friendly, and the food was straight up delicious. It did NOT taste like meats and sauces had been sitting around all day; rather, everything tasted and looked fresh and made on the spot. Portions: large. Beers: cold. Turnaround: fast. Eating it all up: heavenly.
We liked it so much we went back the next night, ordered the same thing, and enjoyed it even more. Really, this is neither a paid review nor AI-generated. Just a sincere recommendation to hit this place if you are ever in Shenandoah, Elkton or the nearby area. If you’re visiting Luray caverns, this spot is worth the drive.

Ordered a cheeseburger kids meal with extra pickles. A fajita burrito with extra side of beans. And a chalupa dinner with cheese sauce on the rice. When the food came the fajita burrito had beans no rice and my rice maybe had a tsp of cheese on it but the kicker was the cheeseburger had NO pickle on it three slices on the plate and I got charged 1.99 for extra cheese sauce and $1.25 for extra pickle. I will never return highly disappointed

Got a tip from a nice young man at TBowl that Mr Garcias was a good place. It was late after some fun at TBowl and we took his advice. Did not disappoint. Service was great, food was delicious and the price was outstanding. If your ever near the town of Shenendoah stop in. Will be adding Mr Garcia to our list of good places to eat. Merry Christmas to all.

There wasn’t any wait at all, the place was very nice and they had a great selection. I got the enchiladas, as well as some quesadillas, it came with some beans and rice on the side. They even made me a custom drink, it was spot on and everything overall was fantastic I would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for some place to go with family or friends. 10/10, will definitely be coming back.

I recently tried to place a call in order, and got their voicemail, not the first time that happened. So, I drove to the restaurant to place my order and also let the tall Latino behind the counter know about their phone. Well I did so once she acknowledged my existance. She did give me a weak smile as she went to the back. It should have went like this, ” Welcome to Mr. Garcia’s.I’ll be with you in just a moment.Thank you”, but it did not. Again this is not the first time for rudeness either. She came back out and took my order, but no payment, she just stood there and then left again. After getting my food I had to advise another young lady that I needed to pay. When I got home with my food, the entree was wonderful. However, I don’t know what the problem is with them and corn tortillas, they are either dry, cracked and broken or they were like the ones.I received that day greasy and wet. I have made and
purchased tortillas it’s not that hard. But more so
the rudeness I will not be sharing my money with them any longer. I will take mine to Elkton or Harrisonburg, they are consistently kind.
