We were traveling thru the area and it came up when searching for restaurants. The dish in the picture looked amazing and the rating was a 4.8, so I was in. Hubby and I are small eaters and often share meals. After deciding to order dish before we got there and then seeing they also had ribs we ordered both. It was a whole lot of food but so glad we ordered both! Best smoked ribs I’ve ever eaten and it’s one of my favorite foods. We will be back when passing through the area. Customer service was amazing. In fact everything was top notch.

Everything was delicious!! The catfish was fried to perfection and wasn’t greasy at all. The chili for the chili cheese fries tasted like a special secret recipe, same for the coleslaw. I’m so glad we came here during our short stay in Laurel, and I’m sure we’ll be dreaming about our dinner for a long time once we’re back home.

First of all, Mr. Fish is the REAL DEAL. He saved the day for our family when some were stranded traveling, and he NEVER EVEN ASKED OUR NAMES. We are still practically speechless. Thank you, Mr. Charles. We can never repay your kindness.
The food is fresh and cooked to order, and it was delicious! The atmosphere is so nice, easy and relaxed. The restaurant is clean and decorated so lovely. Everyone we met was friendly and greeted us warmly. These are good people who love the community and have hearts for others. Go, sit a spell, and enjoy the experience. Wish we could give 10 stars. We will never pass by Laurel without stopping in.

Stop by after a quick trip to laurel and the services was great everyone was so friendly. The food was cooked to order and was delicious. Very pleased with Mr. Fish will definitely be back. I had the whiting with chili cheese fries and okra and my husband had the catfish with onion rings and chili cheese fries.

Good eats for sure, had the whiting strip and rib sandwich, both were great, sides were great – ordered 3 extra sides of the greens to go, for dinner tomorrow. Mr. Fish is a treasure, too, very personable and funny. Give them a try, we’re glad we did.

We’ve been wanting to try this place out and finally got the chance, it was great! We placed a to go order, customer service was phenomenal, everyone was super friendly. The atmosphere was laid back, decorated really nice, and super clean. Our food was fantastic! Some of the best fried catfish around, and they ask how you want it fried. Also probably one of the only places around here that does Chicago style hotdogs. We’re definitely going to be repeat customers!

My husband loved it and wants to make this our new go-to for Friday nights! The fried catfish was really good – very crispy and fresh. The fried shrimp tasted just like the catfish (similar or same breading) and I didn’t care for it. Their hushpuppies are very good! It’s almost like baked mini muffins… but in hushpuppy form… IDK but they were delicious and not greasy at all! My husband enjoyed their baked beans and corn ribs, but we agreed that fried mini corn cobs would be better as you don’t get much from the ribs. The food was fresh, hot, and the service was wonderful! You could feel their love for their business and see that they truly enjoyed keeping it maintained, cleaned, and feeding people – we loved that, it’s not something you see that often. The prices seemed a little high, but once the plates arrived – the portions were huge! We could each only eat about half of our meals and when combined took home a full to go box.

Who? Me?

The fish and baked beans were good, the fries were soggy, the coleslaw was a wet, soggy mess, and it was sweet. The portions were very sparse for the price ($30 for two plates) and the hush puppies were a weird donut-like consistency. The shrimp were few and far between. I don’t like leaving bad reviews, especially on black businesses but these people rubbed me the wrong way. Playing into anti-black respectability politics via anti-black dress codes is something that is always going to get a reaction from me. I’m trying to support black owned businesses but when they treat you worse than other folks, it becomes hard. If I am a paying customer, you should be happy for the business instead of trying to dictate what a person is wearing, especially if they are dressed decently. If you are catering to non-black people, just say that instead of singling out young black males with your dress code and regulations. My partner wasn’t even sagging his clothes, he had on work pants and a work shirt and was told to pull up his pants. I was astounded. Next time you want to tell someone to pull up their pants, make sure you comb your hair first.

The food was not what I expected.. especially for the price!! We ordered 2 4pc whiting meals and the fish was overcooked as well as the hushpuppies. The service was good but everything was WAYYY OVERPRICED!! Including the beverages, a bottle of stale Coka Cola $2.80!! And the To Go plates were CHEAP DOLLAR TREE plates, had to ask for TAPE just to keep them closed.. SMDH!! We would have came out better going to Circle K and getting a $3 Hot Dog Meal.. Seriously, but the place is very clean, the food….. smh WAS NOT HITTING ON ISH… IN MY OPINION
