Social Profile:

Owned by the DUNTON FAMILY. Scott Dunton even created the famous root beer. The idea came from when he visited a fair as a child and tasted a sweet, creamy root beer. In 1993, he tried to recreate that creamy taste. After several taste tests by the family, they settled on one concoction and contracted with a company to manufacture the syrup that is used in the diner today.

Vintage Americana decorates this Route 66 diner serving fare such as root beer floats & burgers.

My favorite stop in Kingman on Rt 66. I go for milk shakes or ice cream but I have had the food too. I tried the fried mozzarella sticks. They were hand made and so fresh and delicious.
It’s a really authentic 50’s style diner with all the memorabilia. They make a very fancy ice cream sundae if you have s big appetite. The only reason for a 4 on atmosphere is it’s usually so very busy, but my last visit was quiet and enjoyable as it was off-season. Service is always on-point and with a smile.

I really enjoyed this dinner experience. The restaurant had a classic, retro vibe that felt both fun and nostalgic, with a pink and blue color scheme that stood out in a great way. The décor featured iconic images of Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, and vintage classic cars, which added a lot of character to the space and made the atmosphere feel lively and memorable. The food tasted good and was satisfying overall. Santana took great care of us during our visit; she was friendly, attentive, and clearly hardworking, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

We stopped for lunch at Mr. D’s Diner on Route 66 around 2 p.m., and the place was still buzzing — always a good sign! The service was friendly and quick, even with the crowd. I had a turkey burger in a lettuce wrap, and it was absolutely perfect — juicy, fresh, and flavorful. The fries were crisp and golden, just how I like them. My husband went for breakfast (served all day!) and really enjoyed his eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast. Classic diner food done right. Fun atmosphere, great service, and tasty food — definitely worth a stop!

This is a must go to diner in the western U.S.
It is a great classic diner. It’s in the top 10 diners in the U.S. that I have been to.

The food was fantastic.
Service was great.
The atmosphere was great.
The pictures are neat.

The downside to improve on.
Water tasted terrible. The water needs filtered water. Their tap water tastes terribly bad.
Bathrooms were unclean and did not have soap and were sketchy. This needs work to be a top diner.
Management needs to have better orode in cleanliness to be in the top 3 diners in America.

Service was great . Price Was fair for a tourist hotspot. Burgers were good but not anything special. The atmosphere and decor however makes this a must stop if you have the chance. The shakes are top notch and they even bring you what’s left in the mixer to finish if it doesn’t fit in your glass!

Mr. D’z is exactly what you hope to find along Route 66: colorful, retro, fun, and full of personality. The turquoise décor, jukebox vibe, and classic American diner atmosphere make it a perfect stop for photos and a nostalgic break.

The food is simple diner comfort food — burgers, fries, shakes — well done and satisfying, even if not exceptional. What truly makes the stop worthwhile is the experience: the ambiance, the friendly staff, and the feeling of stepping back into a vintage postcard of the Mother Road.

A cheerful, iconic stop on Route 66. Worth it for the vibe alone.

This is the most beautiful diner I’ve ever been to, right on Route 66. It felt like stepping into a ’90s movie: so characteristic, colorful, and meticulously decorated. Everything was spotless, even the bathrooms. The food quality was excellent, the atmosphere calm, and the staff very friendly. Prices were fair. Truly a memorable experience!

Super cute classic Route 66 diner. Plenty of classic diner options, and fantastic ice cream as well. We tried the banana split, milkshakes and root beer floats, and all were outstanding. The decor is fun, with old advertisements and American celebrities. We enjoyed it so much we went back the next day for lunch! Check it out if you are in Kingman!

Mr D’s is a fun diner with plenty of atmosphere and very good food. We had great burgers, A+ sweet potato fries, and delish salads and root beer. The waitress was super efficient, super friendly and a very conscientious worker. Fun gift shop beside the restaurant with interesting items and nice wall murals. Worth a trip into Kingman to have a bite here. Located right by the tourist info/ museum. We will definitely be back!!
