Went here for lunch and got a 2/3rd pound burger with onion rings. The burger was fantastic and not too greasy for its size, while the onion rings were good. Waitress was nice but did not check up on us after bringing us food. Cool diner though.

Let’s start with coffee. When you don’t have good coffee, I should have known it would not get any better eating their food. I’ve never had such foul tasting dishwatery coffee ever in my 63 years. No, I’m not comparing to the coffee chains either. This coffee was basement bottom worst ever. Now the food. I had hashbrowns that had this yellow bubbled up gunk underneath them on the plate. The taste was geez I don’t even have a word other than gross. The French Toast was soooo covered in fried egg all over the French toast. If I wanted fried eggs I would have ordered them. The bite of French Toast tasted the same as the hashbrowns. The other adults were equally disgusted with their meals. I called the owner and he said I should have asked for “thicker” coffee. No lie. He also told me the chef will sometimes pour rest of the egg over the French Toast. All I can say is I Yi Yi and never again $50 we can’t get back. Sad.

We are not from Rockford but Mr. C’s was recommended by the staff of the TV show Good Day Stateline after our taping for Brian Wrightson music. We went for lunch & they really do have GREAT burgers! It was so good, 3 weeks later after finishing a middle school field trip to the same TV station, we brought the students for lunch… all 20 of them. Mr. C’s was aware as this was pre-planned; they were excellent! We had a private room for the kids in back of the restaurant & a server assigned specifically to our party. They even gave a special birthday treat to one of the students on her special day. Kids had good time.

Came again for lunch. Got popcorn chicken dinner and a chicken nuggets with cheese curds. The nuggets were just cheap kids nuggets from a freezer bag. No flavor. Curds were very good. Crisp, squeaky, perfect. The shrimp breading was so salty, I had to peel it off and saw the shrimp was only 10% of the item, it was 90% breading. The fries were bland, soft, no salt or seasoning at all. But our drinks, a sweet tea and pepsi, were awesome. Pepsi reminded us of old school soda from a mall arcade in the 90’s. The sweet tea was super sweet, very good.
This visit was for breakfast, and it was awesome. Very happy with everything.
We’ve been here 4 times now and it’s been great. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The food has been top quality every time and very consistent. The other patrons are mostly regulars that treat everyone like family. The menu has a bit of everything so you can always find something you’re in the mood for.
Like many small businesses, they are being hit had by covid. Rising costs of food and a shortage of staff are not however bringing the quality of their delicious food down. The owner has been here every time cooking and entertaining guests and he is genuinely upset about raising some prices. So come on out and show your support for local restaurants!
