Mr. Barbecue was founded in 1962, by Andy and Nick Carros along with Tom Gallos. Our outstanding food got even better in 1965 when Joe Pope and Leo Miller, renown NC Pitmasters, joined the Mr. BBQ family and shared their famous recipes. Recipes that are so special and award winning that we use them to this day!

I had a great experience here today!! There are a lot of options spanning BBQ and Fried Chicken, amazing sides, and sweets as well. The atmosphere is homey and the servers are all super sweet. The amount of food for the amount was impressive! I am super full and feeling good.

I had a strong craving for BBQ so I stopped in and got Ribs and Collards.The ribs were dry and I mean dry! The had grill marks on them as if they were put on the grill to make hot. The collards were yellow, bitter and way too sweet (too much vinegar). Plus they had nothing in them, no ham hocks, no meat, just greens. The worst $26 I have ever spent. To think I spent that to get good BBQ sauce, which was the only thing that was good. If I was feeling better I would have brought it back cause there is no denying how dry they were.

Ate here for the first time today. Staff was excellent. Food was amazing, fast, good value for the money. My favorite part was the bbq bun that is still connected on one side so it holds the sandwich together and doesn’t spill out everywhere.

The food here was really good. It also came out in a timely manner. I noticed the server/cashier was smiling and friendly with other people and customers; however, when we ordered she got super stale faced. When I asked a question about the menu she seemed irritated that she had to answer me.

We have dined at Mr BBQ in WS more times that we can count and for many years and the food, service and cleanliness of the restaurant has always surpassed our expectations. Can’t say enough great things about this place and the management staff and wait staff are amazing! …and they have a new dessert item you have to try, it’s the Chocolate Cheese Cake. It’s amazing!!!

I have been coming to Mr. BBQ since I was a kid and the food has not changed! I grew up close to the restaurant so it was natural to go to that location. Now I live 30 minutes away and pass several other barbecue joints just to come to Mr. BBQ! I turned my spouse onto Mr. BBQ when we were dating as teenagers and he is the pickiest eater I have ever seen. He is a chef and demands good ingredients and he loves your barbecue too. He recognizes perfection when he sees it. It has the perfect amount of smokiness without being overpowering and the sauce is perfect. The ratio of tomato to vinegar is the best around! It is almost across between eastern style and Lexington style in my opinion. Everybody that I have ever turned on to Mr. BBQ loved it and it becomes their favorite barbecue also! The crew will Honor any request -like lightly cooked hush puppies, etc. -that I have asked of them. Speaking of which -they are the BEST hush puppies around!! Whatever you guys are doing is the winning recipe so don’t change it and I will keep driving out of my way to come there every time!

The portions are huge, and the food came out quickly. You order at the counter, but they bring the food to your table. I got the 1/2 chicken plate, which came on two plates and was excellent.

I love their sliced brisket sandwich!!! Went through the drive through this time. Apparently, they were pretty crowded inside because I got pulled over to wait for my order. I waited almost 10 minutes for my order but it was worth it. Soooo good!!! The sandwich had so much meat on it that it was falling out. Thick juices of smoked perfection. I’m definitely going back. 10/10!!!
