Been going to Mr Assante’s since the late 80s, and have to admit, the food NEVER DISAPPOINTS. Friendly staff, cute dining in the back room, waitresses are really friendly and bubbly. And their specials they offer throughout the week are also great deals. If you haven’t already, try this place. Penne vodka, vodka sauce over angel hair, garlic bread, manicotti with meat sauce, meatball sub, a cheesy dish pictured my daughter got was DELICIOUS Allegro (A cream cheese sauce with green peas, prosciutto, shallots and topped with melted cheese)

We placed an order for pickup at your restaurant for the first time. Unfortunately, after collecting our food and sitting down to eat, my husband’s cheesesteak was missing the mozzarella cheese and the extra fried onions we paid for. I’m not sure how this happened, as the staff member who took our order and processed the payment read it correctly, yet the order wasn’t prepared as specified. I tried calling, but it was 2 minutes past 9 pm, no one answered and I was unable to leave a message as the answer machine was full.

When did this place open? It seems like I’ve been going there since the 70’s, but could have been the early 80’s.
Food is consistently good. Try my special, Cheesesteak with onions on top of a garlic bread. It’s fantastic.
I’ve had many a great meal and memory here. Listening to the jukebox when they had one, playing Jungle Hunt arcade machine, I was around when garlic knots were first invented.
Wish I lived closer. I’d still be going there all the time. I miss Joey behind the counter.

Mr Assante has been my favorite restaurant for almost 15 years. I would go there many times and I always loved the food and the service. I don’t live in the area anymore but when I do come home I always make sure I stop by for the best pizza places I love

This Italian restaurant is meh at best. The pizza there is decent, but the toppings didn’t stay on the bread when I grabbed a piece of pizza. It is more like taco than pizza. Otherwise, the environment is small and a bit cozy. It is right off 22, which makes the parking lot a bit dangerous (it is right next to the highway).

I ordered a chicken cheesesteak special with yellow American cheese Mayo and ketchup. I requested all ingredients to be chopped up well. I received a sandwich with I believe white American cheese, the onions peppers and mushrooms were huge and no chicken whatsoever. I think the owner should order a chicken or beef cheesesteak from 30 burgers in Dunellen to get an idea of what a cheesesteak actually is. I basically paid for veggies and bread hope this helps. I can say, I ordered the chicken parm from here a while back and that was pretty good. Trying to show some balance in this review
