If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I recently used Mountaineer Custom Catering for my husband and I’s wedding reception and let me tell you I was blown away. There was not a bad word to be said from our guests. The food was delicious and the decorations to accompany it was so beautiful. They matched our theme perfectly. Aubrei was so easy to work with and her and her team made sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish. I 10000% recommend them to anyone needing catering. ☺️

Coincidence! We stopped patronizing the original
mountaineer restaurant years ago because the food was not hot. We decided to give the new “Old Mountaineer Bar and Grill” a try. We had to send the Pot Roast Dinner back to the kitchen because it was cold in the center and just luke warm in the on the perimeter! This is why customers get sick…food being served below 135° F. No excuse, negligent cook/ chef, The service was very good.

Mountaineer Custom Catering recently did the food for our wedding in January, and we are so happy with our choice. From start to finish they were easy to work and communicate with. They were flexible and listened to what we wanted, while also making helpful suggestions. The displays during cocktail hour and at dinner were so detailed and complimented the rest of our decor. The charcuterie board that they created was so big and full I almost did not want anyone to mess it up! Dinner was warm and there was plenty of food for everyone. We got so many compliments and would recommend them to anyone looking for a wedding caterer!!

When I was working in WV/PA/OH the mountaineer was my go-to, my spot, my home away from home when I wasn’t in Wyoming for my spouse and I. I’ll never forget the friendly faces and staff we met every time we went there. Not one single time did I feel out of place, mistreated or like I wasn’t a part of their community. I’ll be making this area one of my vacation destination spots for the foreseeable future, just to visit this amazing spot again. Keep up the great work, staff. You have something special that not a lot of people get to experience!

Food was not that great. We have enjoyed breakfast very much in the past but dinner time, there is not enough staff and they are not trained well yet. Staff was very attentive to the bar patrons. My husband was very pleased with his pizza but all I ordered was fries and half the order was burnt and too hard too eat. The burger and sandwiches that the other members of our party ordered were good, nothing to write home about, but they were eaten. I understand that it is difficult to get good staff and keep them, so we will at least try it again but will likely be to return for breakfast. Best home fries in Wheeling for sure.
