I ordered the “From the Earth” Skillet, but the vegetables weren’t quite cooked through. While the spinach and peppers seemed fresh, the mushrooms appeared and tasted much like canned. The dish itself was very basic and leaned toward bland. The eggs were cooked to over medium just fine but the side of sourdough bread tasted more like Wonder Bread. The side of salsa tastes like Tostitos branded canned salsa. As for the Pumpkin Cheesecake Latte, it tasted like hot, watery milk.
Service left a lot to be desired. My server never introduced herself, didn’t ask how I was doing, and never checked to see what I thought of my meal. She dropped off the check at the end with a quick “no rush” and that was it.
The only positives I can offer: the service was relatively fast and the food came out of the kitchen in a timely manner. But that alone isn’t enough to make me want to come back.
It was a very mediocre experience that made me nostalgic for the former restaurant. There used to be painted murals on the walls and artwork for sale. Now it has an empty feeling devoid of character. Honestly, it’s not worth going out of your way for. It’s a shame, I really wanted to like it.
One of my favorite parts about coming here is being able to sit out on the patio with my dogs. They welcome pets, so my pups get to relax with me while I enjoy my meal—it makes breakfast feel extra special. The atmosphere is cozy and laid back, perfect for slowing down and enjoying the morning.
The waitstaff are always attentive, friendly, and quick with service. The owner is usually there too, and she is equally wonderful—she makes the effort to check on guests personally to be sure everything is perfect. That’s rare to find these days.
I’ve tried several menu items, and each time the food is consistently delicious—sometimes even better than the last. And with alcohol being added to the menu soon, I’m really looking forward to enjoying an Irish cream coffee or a mimosa with breakfast while my dogs lounge by my side.
If you’re looking for a local spot with great food, amazing staff, and a welcoming atmosphere, Mountain View Café is the place to go.
Update: we sat at an outside table (again, due to the wait for inside seating). The food was again delicious. The service was a bit disappointing this time as we were at our table for several minutes before we were acknowledged, seeing other tables with parties of two (there were 6 of us) get their food and even finish before we’d had our order for drinks and our meals taken. We’ll still return, but I hope the service is better next time.
Staff were very efficient and friendly. Wait time for drinks was under 3 minutes and wait time for food less than 10 minutes.
I ordered cold brew with a shot of caramel flavor and Sausage Gravy skillet. The cold brew was smooth and delicious, exactly what I was looking for! The skillet had good flavors and was very enjoyable. Only complaint was with the drinking water we were brought… it tasted like pure chlorine. I couldn’t drink it.
My husband ordered the breakfast burrito and an orange juice. Both were delicious and ideal for brunch!
This is our second time visiting this cafe and we love the cozy atmosphere, as well as prompt service and good food. I would recommend this place to friends and family looking for a relaxing meal experience that isn’t too costly.
